I'm still having 2 of those cheapo steinzeiser uv filter on 2 of my kit lens, so far didn't see much difference from the hoya smc/pro1D

Uv filters were originally meant to protect the film within the camera. Now people buy it for the lulz.

Pairing a good filter to a normal lens will still give you a normal IQ... But pairing a lousy filter to a good lens will degrade the IQ (Filter Theory) LOL

And I can't risk scratching the lens
