This incident and my previous Japan 2 girls incident had one thing in common.... I didn't give my innocent smile after pressing the shutter.

Most of the time, I got off with a stare and I reciprocate with an innocent smile... but these 2 times I walked off pretty sneakily.

Another lesson learned... there's nothing wrong in taking pictures in public areas... just don't be sneaky.

Benny commented that my style of photography is pretty intrusive... I agree. And my reply was... to take good pictures, I need to poke into people's privacy. But I won't do it in Geylang Lor 4 to Lor 24... it's almost a gang land there.

Hmm... sounds pretty interesting... chiif, we should shoot together la... maybe if u put up a little resistance, we will get to shoot real shaolin kungfu :P

Benny, if got heart attack, I can get to practice my CPR skills... hehehe

No offences folks.. all for a good laugh only~

This is the closest I can get in capturing the Ladies of Geylang...

Taken with my new toy... Rolleiflex 3.5 Automat Zeiss Opton lens. :)

Oh... What did you do with the 2 girls in Japan? I must have missed that interesting episode. They were not happy that you took pictures? Tsk! Tsk!

Cheers,

CPR on 70 year old monk - yours

CPR on 20 year old sweet young thing - I try (you teach me!) :bsmilie:

Cheers,

Indeed Chiif being slapped by a 70 year old monk will make a great series. He'll need to pratice on his sneaky, dodgy look.

The irony of being manhandled by a monk instead of drunk bikers, backstreet kids on speed, religious extremists on riot, etc.

Actually, all he needs to do is run. Not too fast, just slightly in front of the monk. I know chiif can go for miles and miles and miles. Old monk cannot!! Evil!!!

Cheers,

What if monk from Shaolin Temple & knows Ching Kung?:bsmilie:

That why I said go shooting with us!! At least when you get slapped, Bernard and me can get a good series for street photography. Then when he turn on us, you can have a go too. And finally, if he gets a heart attack, it's easier for 3 of us to carry him to seek medical attention. Actually 2 of us to carry him to seek medical attention. One of us still get to shoot the series.

Cheers,

ROTFL. :D

be sure to call me in. I need to try that 50mm lens wide open. "glow" in the shots will make it a dream-like sequence.

hahahaha.... that reminded me of another incident a few weeks ago at the Changi Airport Terminal 3.

I was happily snapping away at the new terminal and shot an old monk (about 70+ years old) in a grey robe at a cafe next to the Coffee Bean one at about 6pm+. He saw me pointing the R4A at him and then shouted at me some #&*%@^* which I don't understand what language he was saying.

I turned and walked away slowly... and a few minutes later... I felt someone pulling my shirt and grabbed my collar with a very strong force.... It was that old man grabbing my shirt with the left hand and he held his right high up and wanted to slap me!

He was so furious and utter in some words which I don't understand. I didn't know what language he spoke and pointed to the direction of the seats. He thought I was going to run away and pulled my shirt collar harder. He was so angry that he couldn't speak properly. And at the same time, he wanted to slap me like slapping a small kid.

In the end, I told him in mandarin, let me go to the seat and sit down first, then he loosen his grip and walked with me to the seats by the side. But his hand was still holding on to my shirt. I sat down, took out the R4A (I was holding my Rolleiflex at that time) from my A&A bag, rewind the film and passed the entire roll to him. Luckily it was the first frame. So I didn't loose much. He took the film and then reprimanded me. I didn't want to argue with him and explain why I took the picture, just wanted to let him let off his steam. He then walked away after simmering down and letting off the steam.

It took me a few minutes to compose myself again.

The last time someone threatened to slap me was my mum when I was a 10 year old kid... that incident really taught me something... It's not nice to be slapped.

You lucky he not the Si Fu from Shao Lin Temple. Or it's one dragon kick to the place where the sun don't shine! But hey, no risk no gain! I salute you!
