The New OM-D EM-1 (some pics)

Do they bundle with other kit lens ? I already have a 12-35 kit lens.

Does Oly actually reduce the price of EM5 now that the Em1 is out ?

Thanks

Nope. Only bundle with the 12-50 kit lens. If you remember that Sept promotion was selling at $1688 with the twin kit lens. I ask the sales man and he tell me that a lot of people was complaining about the price and that 2 lens is pointless thus Oct promo was to remove the 50-100 lens (i think) and other unnecessary items to lower the price.

I don't know if the retail price will continue to plunge for EM5 but i guess the limit should be up soon as it will look bad on the OMD category if it selling below $1k. Thats my thoughts lol.

But then, i wonder what else can Olympus advance from EM1. Hmmm.

Love the Oly 12-40. Fantastic lens if you dun need the OIS. Can focus really really close even at 40mm!

Can show us the pictures of 40mm close-up?

The minimum distance from the subject to the tip of the lens is about 6cm at 40mm. (5.5cm shown below is estimated with a filter on, without filter is 6cm)

The test/measurement setup is as below. The LCD was supposed to show that the words on the box of chocolate is in focus. Total distance from box (subject) to sensor is slightly under 19.5cm (took a second short ruler to measure after this shot was taken).

I hope you have a 12-50mm lens cap to use for an actual size comparison for my little experiment below; if not the 12-50mm lenscap is approximately 54mm in diameter. Below is an image of the 12-50mm lens cap compared to a 5c coin, which I have taken zoomed to 40mm and having gotten the camera to focus as closely as I could manage. Hope this helps...

And here is the physical 5c coin sitting on top of the above image shown on the LCD screen (with the backdrop showing the little 12-50mm lens cap experiment I just did).

To Banker, Benares and hyperFocal,
Thanks for showing us samples. Really looking good.
Appreciated that.

Any nice high ISO (1600/3200/6400) shots? Thanks so much .. Still sitting on the fence, pre-ordered the EM1 but not decided whether to collect it or not.

Wow.. But u did pay the $200 deposit right?..

EM5 replacement is EM5 mk2. OMD is a branding and EM5 is like EOS 7D, where EM1 is like to EOS 1Ds of Canon.

Wow! That's excellent. I din realize it could focus that close! This combo really performs!

OMG, it's Japanese of course! ;)

Off topic, yes, MeltyKiss (JP) Dark Rum flavour (still prefer the strawberry the most) ;p
Awesome stuff to give during X'mas exchange amongst colleagues :D

Curious if it has the HDR option ?? I hate taking bracket shots with the EM5 and hoping they'll update the software to include that function
