The Meaning Of Low Balling???

Buyer can offer any price and seller can always accept or reject...No need to define low balling.

Thanks guys for your fair comments, to me the words "Low Ball" is very offensive especially when you are not. The morale on this topic is: Please don't say people low ball when, in actual fact, they are not!!! Hey you know what, that seller text me and threaten to report this matter to the police??? LOL... Wow!!!

The police is probably going to roll his eyes and ask the small boy to go home study.

Ask him to call 999 or head down to the nearest police station straight away. See if he has a case. Look elsewhere, TS, there are many people selling their 60D below $1200, and it does the same thing, take pictures, don't waste your time with 'high ballers'. I think his definition of low balling includes even asking for a $1 discount, for me low balling is when a buyer quotes a ridiculously low price, say $500 below the asking price. For the record, I feel you are not low balling :)

Ever heard of High Ballers? LOL....

lol.. tt guy is funny.. ask him to call bah.. hopefully police arrest him for obstruction of justice.. lol

$140 off 1200 is slightly more than 10%, i wouldn't call that low balling n anyone who considers that, surely doesn't do business. when i negotiate price irl, i've.negotiated to lower price than more than 25%, why doesnt people call me lowballer? accordingly to economics, buyers wan the lowest price n sellers want the highest price they can fetch.the price which both meet, is the price likely to be transacted at. think of it like the equilibrium..

"Lowballer"

are derogatory terms INTENTIONALLY meant to insult another person.

It is psychological warfare waged by SELLERS against prospective BUYERS.
It is meant to deter you from offering a price that is not in accordance with what the respective SELLER thinks his equipment is worth.

The best test is to ask prospective sellers whether they prefer that CS close the Marketplace, so they can go and sell to the second hand shops e.g. in Peninsula.

When the seller changes role and wants to buy something from another, he in turn may offer low prices to try and secure the best deal.

Agree...furthermore, if seller asks for an unreasonably high price, and still puts a warning against lowballers, then it's pretty obvious no one will approach him/her for the product. Which he/she will realize perhaps due to high pricing set. If a rationale seller is still serious on selling, he/she would have repriced the item.

Hi fellow csers, I just want some opinion from you guys. Lately, a new member (coolguysg) posted a thread for his one month old Canon 60D body at $1250.00. I was actually keen to purchase his camera, and ask for the lowest price, and he replied to me it will be $1200.00. After checking with various shops, I found out that a brand new 60D body is only $1310.00, so I ask him if we can deal at $1170.00 and his remarks to me is that I am low balling him??? Honestly guys, basing on this scenerio and situations, am I low balling this seller? I was merely asking a further of $30.00 discount from his last offer, taking into considerations a new set is only $1310.00. Just want some opinions, hope you guys can give a genuine comments on this. Thanks!

it is a term subjective to individual.
just take it with a pinch of salt.

you comparing it with a new set pricing?
it is a used set and not a new set.
savings of $110?:thumbsd:

Wow so good ar .. use camera for 1 month can sell off with only a loss of $110 .... no need to rent camera liao .... can just buy from shop , use for one month and den sell off , den buy new camera ... every month gets to fondle new equipment ...

i agree,i won't be keen on such offer.
used set is a used set.
its just that this used set comes with warranty(if its local set).
i will only accept a 2nd hand set that is at least 20% lower than new ones.
if it comes with local warranty, then 15%.
just my rule of thumb.

I also question his intention of sale. Selling a 1 week old camera, did he drop it on the floor, into toilet bowl, forget to keep in dry cab afraid of fungus or wad?

I tend not to buy such deals becuz it's too inflated and I question his intention..

Hi Sam, dun lose sleep over it. There's no such thing as low balling, and there are no high ballers out there too, only suckers... If I'm the seller, I should be happy u actually gave me an offer. My advice is to track the seller & wait for the chance to see him post a WTB post & see how 'highball' his offer is. Keep us posted :)

From what you said, there isn't anything that requires the attention of the police.

If you guys can't cut a deal, then no deal.

the reason why the seller reported to the police is because of your threats to him via messages. while i am not privy to the conversations between you two (and i have no interest in them cos this is a private matter between the 2 of you in buy/sell and CS has absolutely no interest in being the judge...), he has queried your hp and it seems you share the same numbers as this...

who was previously de-reg for harassing other members. so... before you go and only give your side of the story and dissing other people, mebbe you should take a step back? like i said, no member of the mods/admin team are interested in refereeing your fight. however, if there is truth to the matter, it is up to you to face the consequences of the matter should the police investigate. and this thread will be archived for reference if so needed.
