although your shots are sharp and colors vibrant, they lack composition, careful thought and what you want to present is unclear. most of them are messy, save for the 1st one. to bring out such colors, one must know how to play with curves. and i believe you know how to use them.
btw the slow sign does NOTHING. it's not prominent. if a viewer needs to be told what to look out for, then i'm sorry to say, that shot didn't make the cut.
oh and. don't be a hypocrite. photography is subjective, as you mentioned. so be ready to accept other points of views before rubbishing another's thoughts.

There are critiques and there are constructive critiques.
Your so called critique was curt, do not give constructive feedbacks and obviously do not come close to providing improvements.
So don’t come in and expound your half baked holier-than-thou remark that taking in critiques will lead to my ultimate salvation in photographic improvement when there are no alternative suggestions offered.
You had not come back to my question on #02 – what is interesting at the water edge that could make the image more aesthetic? Offering an alternative view that perhaps going nearer to the water edge and lowering the shutter speed down to 20secs or more would make the water more silky and thus lead the viewer to the jetty instead of showing a bunch of misplaced rocks in the foreground. This I can accept. A remark like going nearer to the water edge serves no valuable feedback for improvement.
One of the fundamental drawback in people dishing out critiques is that the images do not conform to known compositional logic. Writers are known to just spout standard photographic guidelines as if they were the law! The rule of thirds is not an instruction handed down by the GODS - it is a handy guideline to what will often work well. For some photos, a centred composition will be perfect and using the rule of thirds would just ruin it.
Importantly, the purpose in writing critique is that it should not put down the work of the photographer without providing positive feedbacks or an attempt to change the photographer into a clone of the writer - the very bane of creativity.
And oh...I take your calling me a hypocrite as the babbling of an intrinsically infantile mind who isn't too sure where its' sexual orientation lies.

This was done on a long shutter exposure with the camera on a tripod. The misty effect varies with the degree of exposure time. There were some dodging done on some of the highlighted areas in the sky and on the water.

Good Composition of the photo
1)The front element Rock create a depth of field with the leading line to the pavilion
2)Was heavy on the left side with the trees but nevertheless your Boat on your right create a balancing for the scene
3) and the used of your white balance create a misty effect to the photo and not to mention your long exposure created a smooth and milky water surface.
Overall a GREAT SHOT :thumbsup: and i myself learn from this photo.

Déjà vu ..my exact sentiments too when I was looking through the viewfinder. The rocks in the foreground formed a triangle with the pavilion and the boat on the right. And with the beach anchoring the image, I thought it was a passable shot.
Thank you for sharing your view on the clump of tree on the left.

Nice Composition, well balance.
Everything was filled up nicely leading the viewers from the Rock to the leading line of lamp post and ultimately the sky(background)
Great Shot, do keep posting more so that i can learn more.. =D

yo bro....it was HDR processed.
That was the general idea... to lead the eyes from the tree stumps to the sky and it was taken at Yishun Dam on sunday evening.
Wow... u went down to the muddy and stinky area at Yishun dam. :thumbsup:
