This pic was basically 2 shots superimposed on each other. But they were taken at the same scene with a tripod. Basically I took a normal one, then as I was using a 50mm f/1.4, I set the aperture to 1.4 and made it out of focus to create the bokeh of lights from the buildings, then I got home to stick them together and adjust the opacity..

for controlled diffraction, i like the colors a lot and the shades

it is a pity about the black foreground mucking around with the possible layer composition

could you move around here? if yes, maybe include more of the treeline, so that it extends across the whole picture.. if not, then maybe go longer with lens and do the same thing.. if still cannot, then exclude it altogether.

for the bridge shot with the heart..

i don't mean to be too harsh but the heart is really hideous, and the beach spoils everything by adding a mess of detail as the foreground. maybe crop just above the black thing at the waterline to give a semi pano crop, and balance out the color balance to reduce the yellow and red, it is too overbearing here.

in aug 08 when i was at this location it was significantly lower tide i think, there were rocks everywhere and i walked and walked and walked until i was waist deep and i went no further and gave up, included the rocks as part of the picture. you were blessed with high tide to give you nice reflections - why would you want to include that heart to throw that away?? :dunno:

Hope you dont mind saying this WK, everyone behind the viewfinder is pretty much unique by themselve and the vision each of us see is completely different. It is good to point out ur point of view and points for improvement but you cant change a person view like wat you see behind the viewfinder. If everyone see things like you did, there will be many good photography here in this thread.

Some may want to include the heart and some dont cause its pretty interesting object and things you wont see everyday. Including the heart gives a special feeling towards the beautiful bridge. Some wants to shoot in portrait and some prefers the conventional landscape framing. Very confusing at times..:dunno:.. but everyone tries they best to get it right, dont you think?

The shot was taken at night and may not know what is it goin to be goin into the sea till waist deep? To be honest, I do not dare myself too. :bsmilie: My guess during ur visit to this place was in the daytime..

hello nightmare, thanks for the detailed feedback. for the diffraction pic, I was walking around for a couple of hours on that hill and that was the best spot I could find. I could not locate this http://www.flickr.com/photos/spectrapix/2659247611/in/set-72157594149416053/ place and I believe it might be on top of some flat somewhere nearby without security.. really regret about the sihouette of the neighboring hill but I hope it still gives a sense of distance between the hilly HK island..

As for the Tsing Ma bridge, the composition isnt the best like you said.. My thoughts at that time was since there were wedding couples there, I hope to just "borrow" some of the remains they left behind after their shoot. That said it could also be totally arguable that the hearts could have been made by me too.. so no issue about that.. just that the colors, the peacefulness of the places gives a mood for love.. but I didnt capture that well enough.

Thanks soulfly, nightmare is also right in his comments, and I am lucky that I can learn from you and him Since I was there purely on a photography trip, no excuse that I didnt explore more, for it could give different perspectives of the same structure. I was actually glad he posted the pic he took, just in case I return again in the near future I have other options to explore and engage more creativity in my pics.. besides the forum is for sharing and learning right? ;p
