The Day After Tomorrow - Weather gone mad

ok... given a worst case scenario...

If given a choice, would anyone of you rather have a Global Warming or Ice Age?

I think I will want an ICE Age :bsmilie:

For an Ice Age
If you're on the equator, you'll probably experience nice temperate climate. If you're in Canada, Northern Norway, etc you'll think it sucks. It already goes down to -45 degs C. Parts of Antarctic have gone down to -89 degs C.

A study done in Canada (sorry can't remember the uni) showed that people who live in warm climates are more likely to suffer cold injuries than those in cold climates.

For Global Warming
Temperate countries will get better weather but also come the insects and diseases.

As for rapid cooling, there was a UK documentary about facts and fiction about global warming (sorry can't remember what it was called). I sat watching it with a phD geologist who confirmed much of what was said, including the finding about in a particular year within the span of a couple of months the earth did cool rapidly....out of season.....documented by the plants, insects, tree rings and ice core samples.

So there are blips that happen in the weather.

hey lady ice, i'm just curious, what are you by profession? you seem quite knowledgeable about all these environmental stuff, even the causes you support are based around them...at least from what i gather from your previous posts

...nah last year, hung out with some geologists........and like talking to the polar scientists when I can.....

could have been a NatGeo junkie... :bsmilie:

:nono::nono::nono:

u r tokking about Aunti Ice leh... the "Ice" is not play play one hor.

What I expect is more weather extremes. Far colder winters, followed by massively hotter summers and stronger summer storms. This is the greenhouse effect going wild. It's not a good thing at all.

It will result in massive drought, then floods. Topsoil gets washed away, destroying farmland. Desertification proceeds.

and singapore will go below sea level :faint:

Singapore already has a plan to build a 242-km seawall surrounding the whole island.

huh?!!

liddat no more East Coast, Pasir Ris & Sembawang beach? :(

they forgot Ubin, Tekong & Sentosa Cove? :bsmilie:

I think SG should build a dome and create a controlled environment so we can also have 4 seasons ;p
