The Battle Royal - KING of Nifty Fifty Prime Lens

Ya... Adding 2 more 50s into the puzzle...

MC Rokkor 58/1.2 wide open

Zeiss Otus 55/1.4 ZF wide open

Don't mean to be "mean", but your sig says "Sony A7/ CV 15-4.5 ASPH2/ Sigma 19-2.8 E/ CV 35-1.7 ASPH/ MC Rokkor 58-1.2/ Pentax SMC K 135-2.5"?

Is the MC Rokkor 58 f/1.2 mounted on Sony A7 via adapter? In a Nikon thread talking about Nikon related equipment? The shots are nice but maybe OT?

The Otus shot is quite a revealing shot, wow. But the same question remains - mounted on a Nikon body or Sony? OK I see a Nikon body in the background, so benefit of doubt here. But MC Rokkor will need surgery to get on a Nikon body, perhaps you did.

U r quite mean. Just kidding. Haha. Both were mounted on d A7 but both will present d same effect on any ff Nikon bodies.

D Otus will b more balanced on d Nikon ff bodies though. Sorry for d OT.

I suggest that you edit your post above and add notes on your pictures that it was taken by Sony A7, else people might misunderstand that those were taken with Nikon DSLR.

Sensor can be the same, made in Sony. But final output is not.
;)

That is a tad pale for my liking. I prefer the AFS 58/1.4 drawing although it is a bit too yellow for my liking. Subjective lah this sort of liking. Haha..

Its not pale. If you notice carefully, it is the true skin tone, which is very rare and what people contantly try to achieve in photoshop. and the 58 1.2 is able to get it, a legend in itself, wish I could get one myself.

For you Guys who are considering among Nikon AF-S 58 1.4 vs Nikon AI-S 58 1.2 vs Sigma 50 1.4 (non Art)

For my personal taste, I prefer AF-S 58 1.4 than the other two lenses, because it is so sharp in the center !!
Can you notice lot of pimples on her face in the photo taken by AF-S 58 1.4?

Ummm... Have you met the person in the photos before? If you haven't, how can you tell it is the "true skin tone"? Moreover with all the colour adjustments on the photographer's screen versus yours, it is even harder to determine right?

"Comparison between the nikon 58 1.4, nikon 58 1.2, sigma 50 1.4, and canon 50 1.2.SO being that I have access to a sigma 50mm 1.4, a nikon 58 1.2, a nikon 58 1.4, AND the legendary canon 50mm 1.2 I had to do a quick and dirty comparison of them. These are all shot w/ Nikon D4 (except the canon) at maximum aperture with same exact white balance settings. Everything else zeroed out in Lightroom 5.  Ignore the shorty composition for a moment and really pay attention to the bokeh and color rendering."

No need to meet the photographer, Sam Hurd. He has declared that everything is ZEROED out in the Lightroom.

Ehhh... Pardon my ignorance but what is Zeroed out huh? Something very new to me. Haha..

I think what Far Far Away meant was have u met the model before...bec maybe the model actual skin tone is the pale one and not the warmer one..so nothing to do on the lightroom adjustment.

Exactly my point. Cos to me true to life means like the actual model at the point in time when the photo was taken. Hard for us to judge and will probably be a statement that the actual photog can make. :)

Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG HSM Art is available for pre-order !!
Link: http://www.camerapro.com.au/sigma-50mm-f1-4-dg-hsm-art-lens-australian-stock.html
Price is AUD1499
or SGD1700
and this is not a joke !
What a premium price for a 3rd party lens :nono:

It is better to get the Nikkor AF-S 58 f/1.4G instead

Id say the sigma will be second to the Otus in sharpness, edge to edge and more.... so its cheap really.

With a premium price of SGD 1700, this Sigma 50mm f/1.4 ART has 3D bokeh or not?

People pay thousand of bucks of Leica lenses for that. Nikkor AF-S 58 f/1.4g has similar 3D character.

Zeiss too. Even some voigtlander has it. Siggy is getting pricey.

+2 for me. Probably didn't expect the 50mm to be priced this high. Hmm...
