That thread on the nokton 50/f1.5

Hi guys,

I just got a nokton 50mm f1.5 which uses a 52mm UV filter. I notice on the side of the front element, there's another thread measured about 39mm.

Just wondering, can I put a UV filter there instead? Will it cost vignette?

I remember no such thread. But why would you want to put a 39 mm filter, even if it could fit? The lens designer clearly intended the use of 52 mm filters, 39 mm filters are more expensive, less common, and are likely to cause vignetting

Well, I don't know about a 39mm filter on a Nokton. I just got a 52mm one for my 50mm 1.2.
