Me and my friends are planning to go to Phi Phi..any advise/ tips on how to go there. It's where The Beach movie was shot , my friend told me?

By going to Phuket, and proceed from there?

Agree. Just walk around in Patong area, compare the day tour offered by each tour agent, then decide which tour you going to pick. Pay the $$, the tour agent will usually pick you up at hotel.

Someone told me Phi Phi mainly for divers / snorkeling. I never been there, cannot justify.

just to add on, my hubby and I will be going to Phuket in October for the Vegetarian Festival as well. Hoping to do some island hopping.

Can I find out if I need any protective gear for my DSLR especially if we do island hopping?

Hey guys,

I'm planning a trip to Thailand at the end of the year, Phuket plus another place that I'm still researching about... I have about 4 free days to go anywhere, what's a good place to go for spectacular landscapes/rural areas/cultural places?

Hi, Bangkok could be a good choice for your needs, except for landscape.

For landscape, Chiang Mai / Chiang Rai maybe good, but I never been there...

We're now planning to go to Phuket and then to Bangkok, cause apparently, there aren't alot of flights that goes to Chiang Mai from Phuket, and those that do cost at least $200 one way...

Does anyone know whether there are any villages near Bangkok where it's ok for people to pay a visit?

Thanks.

It could be troublesome, but if you really want a rural part, probably a domestic flight from Bangkok to Chiang mai...

From what I know, you may try some floating market near Bangkok, not sure is it 'rural' enough for you.

Hi guys... I am going to bangkok this coming thursday (29th Oct till 4th Nov). Wanna ask u guys if there is any dress code for places such as Wat Arun, Wat Pho and Bang Pa Inn? I know the Grand Palace requires to wear jeans and shoes but I am not too sure about other places...

i am not a very good photographer, but i happen to visit bangkok and ayutthaya last year. some of the places i really like are:

bkk:
- wat arun, some of the structures there are pieced together with chinese porcelain
- walk around chonburi area after finishing wat arun, more laid back than western bank
- memorial bridge monument, youngster play street football at the square, in front of King Buddha Yodfa's monument, wai'ing to him respectfully before ending the game and leaving for home
- wat saket, the golden mount allows one to see a panaromic view of the city

ayu:
- wat yai chai mongkhon
- wat phra si sanphet
- wat chai wattanaram
- wat phu khao tong
- wat mahathat (i did not visit, but you must visit)

there is something i wanted to do that time on the train which i cannot. a boy was selling drink on the train. at his age, he should be studying in school or enjoying his childhood. i wanted to give him a toy but i do not have one with me. he was playing with an old figurine on a keychain. i hope i can do so some time in the future

Hey guys... just back from bkk and wanna give a tip to you guys.

Can go to victory monument to take mini van to other places such as ayutthaya, hua hin and pattaya. My mini van ride to ayutthaya cost about 60 baht and it is faster than train. Takes about 1 hour journey, similiar to taking an mrt ride from boon lay to pasir ris.

BTW, filters are very cheap in bkk. Lens as well but if i am not wrong hong kong will be much cheaper. :)
