on a fully charged set of 4 AA 2500mAh PowerEx with the LS PJ(domeless) on the SB800, i get around 150+ shots in an event. should be more if i'm not wrong but i'm really giving a very conservative estimatation. u might get more exposures, i think. anyway, it varies from user to user due to personal shooting habit. i'm a careful user and i off the flash when its not in use. and i always change batts when i feel the output is getting weak. scared to die la!
i bring lotsa batts(6sets of spare rechargeables) and i'm looking at getting a quantum power-pack to go with my SB800. dun haf to 'canister change change change' all the time.
LS PJ is the way to go! trust me!

i have tried both TTL bal and TTL. think pics looks better w bal. a bit overpowering at TTL.
the recycling is faster w LS than diffuser dome, so think LS uses less power. on a lanscape mode, the result is very similar to sb800 tilted up w bounce card. it is in the portrait mode that the LS really helps.... since the bounce card cant be use on a portrait format.
LS and difuser alike is more for close range shots, when you tend to get uneven flash across the frame w center being brighter, making it looks artificial. if you only use e LS at closer range, it help u get natural looking flash exposure. but if you try to shoot it like 3 metres up away, you gonna miss a lot shots due to poor recycling time.(flash firing at full power most of the time) it will be better to remove ome and shoot direct at subj at further distance in this case.
