Bought it in HK for about S$180. Singapore sells for S$220 (MS Color), checked a few days before I came. Still here.

S$180 is a good price. Brought my kenko 2x for S$230 in Singapore. You still at HK? I will be flying over there tommorrow too.

I personally experience with teleconverter.
I use the Kenko 2x combo my 200mm macro and i still happy with the outcome.
Tryout with kenko 3x, the result is only less than 20% of the shots looks ok.

For my 300mmf/4, i decided to invest in Nikon TC 17E II and permanently stack on the 300mmf/4.

The reason is for birding, i had no choice but to cropped quite a lot for almost all my shots. (only get lucky have a few in full frame) So i felt that i need a better TC.

To TS, do take care that the aperture diaghram of the 300mmf/4 is expose without any rear lens element. This actually make me feel uncomfortable and also the reason for stack the TC on it permanently to somehow using it as a protection.

Very good input for the use of TC & 300mm Lens, Thanks so much.
I believe no points get the 3rd party TC as the picture quality degrade so much though the Nikon one is double in price, I think still worth it.

Just got home. Tested the Kenko 1.4x with 60mm f2.8, works. Then tested it with kit lens AFS 18-70, works! Even at the long end, which should not work as f4.5 x 1.4 = f6.3.

No field trials yet.

Maybe should really have bought the 2x to go with the 60mm...

Just one quick question, for Nikon AFS70-200 f2.8 by using AF-S Teleconverter TC-20E II teleconverter, is the af still works and how the impact on iq?

What I heard is that the af won't work and the iq will be effected. Not sure about this.

AF definitely works!!! confirm + chop + money back guarantee.

however, the image quality definitely drops. Even for 1.7x, the image quality DOES drop, and u can DEFINITELY see the difference. using 1.7x, u have to drop to at least f8, before the sharpness turns ok.. similarly, the colour and contrast also starts to be better at around f8

if u stack 1.7x or 2x with ur 70-200 and shoot at f4.8 or f5.6 respectively, ur shoots will definitely not be sharp and colour will not be good enough

Wa so confuse, show AF, aperture, image quality, metering price and more, decided to bite the bullet, get the Nikon TC1.4E for safety.

It should be quite ok to try.

The main disadvantage will be:
1.) The IQ will drop.
2.) The viewfinder will be darker
3.) The DOF will be shallower even if you step down.
4.) No No if you intend to do hand held.

If you intend to mount on tripod, I personally find that the 105VR is quite heavy for it size and adding a TC without a lens collar, you will encounter some hard time in framing the subject.

I don’t know much about macro, understand that use a extension tube will have the same macro effect (don’t know what is the magnification rate) but will maintain the same minimum focusing distance, since the ET have no glasses, the light will just go through the air, does this mean the IQ will not suffer as compared to TC ? Please share.

When using ET, IQ will not suffer significantly if you don't stack too much.

Unlike the TC which increases the magnification like a magnifying glass while maintaining the same minimum focus distance, ET in another way will let you decrease the minimum focus distance hence increasing in magnification.

ET will not casued significant drop in IQ if stack moderately. The magnification when using ET will be base on the lens focal length vs length of ET, as i had mention in the other thread that diffraction will occur if stacking too much ET or even using high mag TC.

By the way, the lens can't focus to infinity when stack with ET, so lenses design is quite complicated.

Macro lenses is a better choice for do macro as it is design for.

ET on Macro lenses is not a new thing, i always use this combo for my shots.

I did ask about Nikon 2 TC. Apparently it cannot be mounted on 105Vr or 200m F4. So I am not too sure what to do as well. going to take a look at Tamron 180 tom

For the 2 lenses, you can use Kenko or Tamron TC.

Huh? How come it cannot be mounted? You mean the mount is different or it cannot work with them?
