Tekong is so Pretty!

I don't know how many BMT recruits actually assess Tekong from a photographic perspective amidst the training and stuff, but I get to see a fantastic view from my bunk window and due to the waking hours, I see that view at both sunrise and sunset everyday when I'm there. Sometimes, the light is so damn pretty that I really really wish I could take my camera in! It gets really really REALLY beautiful in the morning especially when the tide is down low, but I'm stuck doing area cleaning. whoopee.

I wonder if there's a way to access Tekong as a civilian? There's a fence going around BMTC, plus I've seen some people walking around outside that fence at low tide, so is it possible? There surely must be a reason for the fence.

Indeed the scenery is refreshing. The atmosphere during the break of dawn is surreal. During my time, guard duty took place at the ferry terminal, perhaps it's still covered nowdays, the 20 min just before the sun breaks through is electrifying. I just stood there watching the rays, listening the waves, breathing in the cold morning sea breeze... Awesome therapy for the SOC training

Place is "dirty" but i guess that is what gives its "charm". The change in atmosphere is most felt at sunrise. Yes, don't bring the cam in, its not worth it. It's not easy for a recruit to be charged, don't give them a reason to. Unless you're in *ahem* white horse coy, they'll usually standby everything after visting day. Hard to keep a SLR

Tekong is a high security area. I would advise you to serve your NS and rod in peace.... You wont get only charged. You will be detained and charged and also most likely have SIB raid your house especially if you belong to a "certain" profile. (I am sure you know what I mean). A file will be opened on you and you can forget about being a civil servant or any sort of scholarship, you have earned yourself a place on the names list of possible security risks. Post 9/11 is a very paraniod place, the authorities are on constant high alert and so dont go get yourself into damn deep **** because of some urge to take a photo. You might say they are overdoing things but well just look at the security at Jurong Island!

tekong is very nice, was there as support to some training and had the privilege of roaming ard the island, lots of plantation, can catch oysters and the coconuts there...nice..

Of course I don't mean to bring the camera into camp, who'd risk that? Although I think you could probably get by with a plastic lomo stuffed in your pocket. I asked initially if there were civilian portions of Tekong, given the fencing around BMTC, not if I should bring the camera in.

If the only way there is by fast craft then I'll just admire the view.

The ban was enforced long before the silly videos. It was thanks to 9/11. When I go back for reservist, our RPs search our bags and use metal detectors on us to make sure we have no camera phones. That is how tight security is now.
