When to ask about 10D Battery Grip
It seems everywhere is out of stock except this place. hmmmm they've got like 10 over pieces there. :o

This young guy quoted me:
1) 325
Some uncle walked by and told me it cost 365 ( I wanted to laugh !! :) )
I bargained till around
2) 290

I asked to look at the unit.

The box had No canon logo and was a normal brown box.
The manual looks like from canon (could be photostated)
The unit seems like original canon (not sure really how to tell)

No warranty by canon, only by the shop for 1 year.

I then told them its ridiculous to sell so high and warranty is not even by canon.

They didn't say anything but smiled at me ..so ... I decided not to buy and walked out.

Are stuff at TCW all parallel imported ?
The shop trustworthy ?

:thumbsd: ? ?

i got some stuff from them long time ago at a much lower price and all in good working condition. Personally, i can trust them.

canon does not offer warranty for the battery grip. AP sells for $270 but there is no warranty. TCW offers u shop warranty for 1 year but sells you at $290. I think for $20 to get a 1 year warranty, u are getting a very good deal.

I bought my batt grip from TCW for 290$, but only 2 wks "trial-period" to check for any factory defects.

They are quite friendly there I must say. :)

Thanks guys for the feedback.
Will really consider on whether to get from them.

But what about the box ?
Is it a plain brown box ?

BTW:
can you use 2X BP511 or differrent mha on the battery grip?
I got the canon original batt and eastgear batt.

;p

Alamak the box is like that original, but have some white sticker saying the specs and all.

you can use any BP511 batt, no problem. :)

it might be better to use batteries with the same rating. Eastgear batts are rated higher than the Canon's.

I think CP has stocks for the grip (was there just now)

For TCW, I have bought quite a fair bit from them and so far so good. Very friendly and good pricing but depends on your luck for the good price ^.^

Yup, plain brown box, but should have sticker with the item name and some other stuff on it.

Confirm box and material like toilet paper roller .
Only a piece of white 'koyot' with description on the box.
manual is just a big piece of printed paper (like the ones that comes with lens)... not toilet paper erh...
No warranty

Aye bro the grip's box is a ayam brand brown cardboard box which is correct.. dun expect those white black n red canon type boxes. :D

why cannon so cheapo ..save on packaging ? :)

So that they can put more quality into their products :D

because they know that people will buy it no matter how bad the packaging is...

hahah - that's true

I bought my BG ED3 from CP at 285. No warranty also. Cheapo brown box with equally distasteful manual but the BIG-ED is worth it.

Use BP511s with the same rating though many say it doesn;t really matter as the BIG-Ed was said to use fully one battery first (right) before the next and not round-robin. Not too sure myself

Do you want to buy a lens or camera body from a shop with Local Canon warranty or shop warranty? Which one you would prefer given that the prices are the same or around the same? and why?

Have u ever checked the prices between TCW and CP/AP for example. One is selling with shop warranty while the later is selling with Canon warranty. The prices are almost identical in these days, due to competition?? :dunno:

In July, checked out that the 70-200 f4L USM is selling at $1,180 at CP, it's the same for TCW.

Why is that so? TCW is selling mostly grey items, thus giving you the shop warranty but the prices seemed to be the same as CP/AP.

A few years ago, TCW's prices were very competitive and low, but now... :(

Actually cannot blame them coz:

1) CP can afford to bring in a lot of stock, thus lower cost

2) TCW sometimes have older stock which have higher cost than new stock so can't sell so cheap

But usually I get cheaper prices in TCW than CP (but grey vs original).

eg. I was quoted for Canon EF 100mm f2.8 macro USM

CP: $1000 (non-grey)
TCW: $950 (grey)

So you pay $50 for warranty from Canon? Think it's up to individuals to prefer Canon warranty or shop warranty loh... :)
