Hi,

Does anyone has experience buying lenses from Japan? Is there any Tax reduction, just like GST reduction for tourists?

Bring your passport along and you only pay the tax-free price tag (usually about 5% less). They trust that you will bring your purchase out of the country so no need to claim GST at airport. However, not all shops can give tax-rebate, mostly the big ones do. Some lenses are more expensive in Japan tho.

Thanks a lot for the info. Hmm, now i'm ready for Japan ;-)

Prices in Japan may not be cheaper - a friend was there and went shopping for a 70-200 F4L IS and found that the price is no different from Singapore. He went to BIC, MAP and YODOBASHI. Certain items, accessories etc are cheaper.

You want cheap - go to Hong Kong. Typically 20% cheaper than Singapore.

Yes, I totally agree with you.
Japan is still a bit ex. is some ways..
and for the memory card... is too ex compare to SG..
the price diff will be around $20 to 30$ or more depending on which shop.:bsmilie:
that I really dont understand...:dunno:

Tamron is cheap there.....accessories are cheap and those you can't get in SG you'll be able to get it there.....

hmm, thinking hard now, probably will just settle for the lens in Singapore. How about the warranty? Is it International? Or only limited to Japan Warranty? :-S

Nikon Len are international warranty along with the flash. Body wise is local warranty... :)

Japan only cheaper if you buy DSLR with Kit, the lens is expensive compared to Singapore, Hongkong offers best prices

Where can do a shopping at tokyo, i am looking for lens canon or tamron
