Tanjong Pagar Railway Station Shoot

I went again yesterday. Started from Tanjong Pagar MRT at 4pm and ended at Bouna Vista MRT at 8pm. Tanjong Pagar railyard is a real sad sight. Most of the rails are torn up now. Too many people walking along the tracks now to get isolated shots (even in this hot and sweaty weather)! I wouldn't recommend to shoot at night alone. It's dark to even see properly without torch let alone compose properly on the uneven grounds.

The security had cordoned off right under Kampung Bahru flyover with manned officers sitting underneath in the shade. Didn't see the big "landmark" spider. Access to the rails there is much easier now as someone had put up plank boards across the drain and a man-worn path made from the trails of hundreds of visitors across the week.

Lucky i was one fo the few to go there early..Haha..

If it is, then is it accessible from Tanjong Pagar station or do we need to access from Silat Ave?

No, the Tanjong Pagar Station and area around there we still not allow to take photo..

If you wish to shoot the turntable, walk up to the shop houses, near the Indian temple you will get a decent shoot of it, from the crossover you can have a side view, and HDB block with a top view. The yard tracks almost all are torn away. You can also get a fair shoot of the yard from these places, but you will need a tele lens if you want to have a bit of close ups... Hope they will keep the turntable, it is a mark of the UK engineering (am I correct?). I think that turn table is as old as those steel truss bridges at Bukit Timah

Yes, the turntable was made by the British. Had the year 1930? imprinted on it. Still fully manual operational and in use after 80 years. I'm still slapping myself for not taking close-up photos of it when I had the chance earlier on.

If really got ppl interested, we can meet up on this Saturday (16/07/2011) early in the morning (ard 7am) to walk from Tanjong Pagar Railway Station To Woodlands Railway Station..Midway we have our lunch at King Albert Park..Then we continue proceed to Woodlands Railway Station..

Yes it still open for public to shoot but the view will not be nice since they fence up the area and put up the SLA sign board..

I am VERY interested but I'm unsure of timing/availability as of now BUT, Can I put my name down first??

P.S: Last week, I started from King Albert Park area, walked on the tracks till Rail Mall, with my Lubitel, and 1 shooting buddy. Took about 2hours (830am-1030am) And finished a grand total of 1x 120 roll. (12 shots which I have not developed) LOL. :bsmilie:
