i think it depends too. sometimes if its backlight of cos shoot over, it not do manual metering best haha..but the light was quite bad, i had same problem with some pictures..haha

hmm to me for portraits if shooting over compements the subjects complextion its okay hehe ;p

hmm, more detail i will shoot under

:nono: .... shooting under doesn't mean you get more detail. Last week, most of my photos were taken 1+ to 2+ over. And somemore with the face fill in using reflector. It depends on the temperature of the environment. Another tip learnt from a Master. :bsmilie:

ohyah hor ... memory failing me .....bad sector ....hmmm must organize

Reminds me yesterday, I was archiving my photos (convert Raw - High JPEG, backup to external harddrive) which release 100 over gig of space from my main drive. :bsmilie:

btw bro, what I read from a magazine is totally difference. The magazine suggest that we should shoot little bit over - about -1/3, instead of under...
this photo was due to the direct bulb light..

hi Juste,

hahaha.. I also read magazine, and it says shoot under... well... it depens on what you want actually. It is so much easier now a days with the LCD screen. You are not shooting with film and you can always check your histogram if most of the pixels lies in the region you wanted.

This is what I do normally.

I have calibrated my hand (palm) with a grey card ( 18% grey ). My palm is +1.3 OVER. therefore, before I shoot portrait, I normally place my palm facing the lightsource and close enough to the lens , so that the lens captures the metering of my palm. The metering should show +1.3 stop.

After that, I stop down 0.3 step ( prefer shutter adjust ) and start to shoot already ( without looking at the metering ), just concentrate on composition.

again , this is what I do, doesn't mean it is correct... , just sharing my knowledge.

Challenge!

This is challenge is what I call "Motion Shoot". Get a model. Photographer in motion with the model, like follow the model around the area. Shoot along the area the model went. This concept had been practiced in overseas. Very well executed. Who want to take the challenge? :bsmilie:
