The key constrain here is that .. there is not many wide angle lens with large image circle available in the market. I think the widest lens is like 60mm and covers 4x5. so, you still need to perform stitching my moving your DSLR back...

Check the Sinaron digital lenses. IIRC they go down to 23mm. The Sinar digital is a different beast altogether.
