On 20th June 2007, one ClubSNAP member by the username of qING, started a
thread to check out interest in shooting portrait at the Chinese Garden. Then one user by the name of Redsun proposed shooting the Tang City. The discussion gets heated up with much anticipation from many other ClubSNAP members. Then the first outing took place on the
30th of June 2007, not at the Chinese Garden and not at the Tang City, but its at the Botanical Gardens with a turnout rate of 5 persons. Due to qING's interest in trying out portrait photography, and everyone is shy at being shot at alone, group photo-taking ended up as a common practise for every outing.
The BIG outing took place on the
22nd of September 2007, this is the outing that gave us our name (TangShooters) and make us grow. YES! The TANG DYNASTY CITY (唐城
outing! Response for this outing was simply overwhelming, approximately 20+ members turn up for this outing. Eveyone had a "great experience", and a whole lot of fun in taking the group photos.
Ever since the BIG outing took place, TangShooters have been organizing photo outings almost every week. From portrait to macro, events to landscape, you name it we did it. We even had a few mass production shoots where it involves alot of manpower. Without the help from one another, we wouldn't have made it. Some members are even moving beyond the borders of Singapore co-organizing travel photography outings. Photography knowledge session were also conducted on and off to share tips and know-how with members. Other then photography related outings, members were also gathering for BBB, makan, sports, etc.
Over this period of 3 years, we learned and experienced many aspects of photography. But more importantly, we get to know many friends. And it is this friendship and passion for photography that pull us, TangShooters, together.
