Yo bro, writing composition for O Levels. :bsmilie:

I think this should be discussed in the kopitiam since the core shooters congregate over there. A SK warrior is willing to share their knowledge with the shooters, same thing applies to the shooters should expressed their ideas on what they want to shoot. This is a two way process and main thing is teamwork. To conduct a proper shoot, all elements should work together, brainstorm and execute. If the individuals willing to listen, there will be better results. Sometimes, the shooters does not have the objective on what to shoot, will result no subject or theme shooting, which means anyhow wack. Of course, there is always an obseleted case.

Okie, me moving out before been wack for OT. Cheers! :)
Since query pertains to outing, its not OT here. But surely a better resolution if we explain where it is of concern.

I do not doubt the capability of list of SK Advisors, but an outing with more enthusiasm on secondary responsibilities other than shooting itself is worrisome to me. Are we creating an avenue to participation of mere fun or an escapism (if so, then surely the event should be discussed in Kopitiam like BBB outings - as they are not directly photography related)???

Hope organiser have already sorted out who do what in the list of SK Advisors... if all 10 are advisors, it would be respectful to just call you advisors, I have no qualms. But the opening of 10 SKs to shoot along, well it blew the proportion off (now with 10 shooters). I pulled out so that I open my space for people who want to shoot. I disagree to SK shooting along. I propose dedicated advisor to each group or another one for the models. My opinion really. Ignore if organiser feels otherwise but do consider if this is a SK outing or Photography outing. Cheers.

You got a point.... and noticed the trend in other outings. As I mentioned it depends on Individuals. BTW, this is my first time doing SK. :sweatsm:

yes i disagree to SK shooting as well.its ridiculous if SK number is almost same as photographers and they start shooting.Whats the point of having SK then. Its ok for SK to brings strobes or extra flashes lens for the photographers to use, then guide them along

Bro, juz past experience from doing SK. I do bring my camera but not shooting most of the time. Mainly carrying reflectors, set up lighting, giving some ideas on angles and settings on camera, assisting shooters whenever they wan. But when some times some angle is really nice and I wan a shot, I will inevitably take out my cammy and snap a shot.

Most importantly, I think most of the us who do SK before will noe wat is expected but also, ur suggestion to Michael to state the responsibilities of SK beforehand is valid. If a SK is deemed as a photoassistant, then it would be recommended that he/she is assisting the photog throughout the shoot. I have been one for sometime be4 and totally no cameras allowed. But TS being a flexible and fun group, we term these as SK and not photo assistant. As long as the SK does the job of assisting during the shoot and provide valuable advice or help then he has done the job. So I guess taking a couple of snapshots of behind the scenes or poses is not an issue.

To conclude, not everyone can be a good SK. We can have newbie to come in and do SK and learn how to use a reflector and position lightings but another more experienced SK has to be present to guide along. I remember my first TFCD last year with TS. Gerald was the coordinator and we had shooters like phoa and tony etc who are guiding us along the way. All of us are also shooting but its not machine gun firing style. It’s the thought put thru and digesting the info from these guys that we learn. The shooters also double up as SK thru our TFCDs in past and present to rotate to hold reflectors and adjustment of lightings.

Ending off liao… dun be too bored by my compo ok? 

Yup.. all should be free to shoot.. and indeed its a happy grouping.

Then again, its only fair for the models to know how many people shooting them and they are prepared for them. For the registered shooters, its nice to prep them also on how much time they have to each model.... and if its 3 of them shooting or 3+2 SK Advisors. Especially so if its paid shoot.

Somehow the alternative to have SK filled up first prior to photog list sounds really bad to me. We are promoting photog here.. for your consideration.

I think Gerald brought up a good point.
Do consider the group size and feasibility of the shoot as well as physical space constraints. Things will get messy with so many people running around.

Also consider the ratio of shooters : subject : advisers and helpers.

The ideal ratio is 3 photogs: 1 subject: 1 assistant / adviser - which so far, the organizer has done well to keep that balance.

Then look at the timings, 30mins per model to shoot and rotate is really not that ideal. 30mins might be time taken for the subject to get warmed up and then suddenly, must rotate again.

Its not about covering more models but the quality of shots that matter.

But looking at the previous car shoots that KT and fellow organizers have organized, i think they are more than capable of handling large groups of people :)

Maybe just need to fine-tune to make it better?

And to the group: sorry i have been out of action for so long. I keep talking only but no action. haha. :embrass: Work and school has been keeping me busy.

Will join you guys soon i hope.

And sorry about the OT but i think posting here is good so that those people who dont drop by the TCSS Threads can also understand our point of view and where we are coming from.

Cheers!

SolBadGuy: Sorry guys, but I no longer have a flash unit. It seems I can't realise what I want to try out for this anymore. So I am dropping out voluntarily. If anyone of the current SK advisors move up, and the photographer's list is filled, please put me under SK. It's not that I don't want to shoot. It's a combination of the two aforementioned factors. This weekend should be free from project meetings, so should still be able to help out in SK if needed. :)
