Tamron Service Center Experience

I got my 18-200 from Alan Photo which is front focusing heavily

Brought to AP, they reject it with three words "go to tamron", then ignores me. Go to Tamron, the woman there called another guy quickly, the other guy orders another guy to take another copy from the warehouse, then he tried my problematic lens, and acknowledge the problem, then mine got replaced, instantly.

A very nice service from Tithes Marketing! They replaced mine with a new one without any hassle, I even dindnt fill the warranty card before, and I lost my receipt already.

...and :thumbsd: :thumbsd: :thumbsd: to you-know-who. they told me to call the hoya distributor directly when i had an issue with a filter. turned out to be nothing. looks like these guys don't know much. *sigh*.. i've had good experience buying from them before, but it looks like they don't care two hoots about service after they take your money.

I believed he is refering to AP. Had similar experience also, especially when they are busy!:thumbsd: Still prefers MS, never turn me away when I have problem. Even when I don't get anything from them and jsut drop by to Chit Chat, they even offer tea!

AP is (sometimes)like that one, when i see they have alot of customer inside, i seldom enter the shop too, i am only a small buyer haha...

Agree with the solid support by Tithes Marketing for Tamron lenses. I had some problem with sticky aperture control mechanism in a long Tamron zoom (also bought from AP). Brought it to Tithes and was attended to promptly, 4 hours later, they called me back to pick up a replacement lens. The service person said they prefer to send the faulty new lens back to Japan QC for their evaluation/feedback.
 

I got a bad experience with tithes....

I sent in a faulty 28-200mm (error 99) on 1/3/06 , and i just got it today (13/4/06).
The repair took a total of 1.5 mths. They explained to me that they have to send it to japan and that took the bulk of the time. I accepted the reason. Somemore my lens was under warranty.

however, upon collection today, after i have inspected the lens, there were still a significant amount of dust inside the internal elements of the lens. I asked the service manager to have a look and he said " Sorry, it's inside the lens, and we don't have any tools to service the parts inside. we have to send it back to japan" that's all he can do.

Shame on Tamron Japan service centre. I was like..... darn pissed, cause it will take another 1+ mth. somemore i had to pay for the charges incurred.

I prefer canon, so much faster, friendlier and prompt service. normally my lens gotten back on the same day.

BAD move by Tithes....
 

geno, i didn't mean tamron service centre ;)

a thought just crossed my mind, if all us have have varying experiences with different dealers and some even have kang-taos for some, can we get together and exchange info on who knows who, and for future trips to these places, we can leverage on one another to get better prices and service? just a thought...

btw can you tell me what is MS and where is it?
