www.tokocamzone.com and www.jpckemang.com, and if you stay near mangga dua (near ITC) then there is this shop in orion dusit plaza (3rd floor, somewhere on the bridge towards ITC) a shop named WITA COM. They don't have website but prices they quote are even more reasonable (not all items though). For example I bought 7D body only for just S$2228. enjoy :thumbsup:

I know those stores! LOL. JPC doesn't have the one with Canon mount yet. Canon and Tamron prices in Indonesia are very competitive, but Nikon, Tokina and Sigma are far more expensive than in Singapore lol.

hmm.... local one got 3 years warranty rite... but singapore do not have any tamaron service anymore what from what i heard from my friend.........so 3 years warranty for what sia like that... cause i was thinking of getting one also... the price in sg is ard 950 .... i just got my Tamron 17-50 f2.8 vc for canon mount. I reckon price in Indonesia is currently very competitive compared to neighbouring country. I've got mine for Rp. 5.200.000 (equiv to S$753).

Im in jakarta right now. went to the place you mention (WITA COM) and they do have the VC version of the lens for Rp.5.600.000 which equals to 820 S$. i dont know how you managed to buy it at 750$, but its still a pretty damn good price!! Too bad i never bring enuff money, else i would buy for sure lol..and im pretty paranoid when it comes to using Credit Cards in Jakarta. :sweat: I would prefer to pay in cash if im shopping there...

Anyways, went to the other shops around Mangga Dua mall, and it seems WITA is the only one selling the VC version of the lens:think:

You probably got the official distributor warranty for the price of Rp 5.600.000. I got mine as a shop warranty unit for Rp.5.200.000 from www.tokocamzone.com. They are the only one selling shop warranted one at the momment. You could probably get urs for 5.500.000 if you bargain hard enough. The shop owner Mr.Johannes pretty nice and decent and the shop that I mentioned in my previous post don't rip you off like most of the shop in Singapore.

Another shop that you can look for is www.oktagon.co.id, they are canon authorized reseller.

And also Witacom sell pretty cheap HOYA HD UV and CPL filter, and you could bargain for lesser price than what they quoted you. Best if you bargain with the boss straight up.

I was told the focus adjustment in D300 might not be able to work for this lens. Anyone have tried and able to verify this?

Best is to get a sharp copy first time so as not to muck around with the focusing issue:dunno:

Considering you save on the 7% GST, otherwise the actual net price is $888 in SG as compared to MY $815 which technically speaking is only a saving of $73. This is for 2 extra yrs of warranty so is it worth?

Actually technically .... if you buy from malaysia you still have to pay GST.
Assuming that you cross over just to buy lens and back within a day.... you have a tax levies of 50 sgd. so any purchase above 50 you have to pay tax. So dont get caught .... else you might end up paying gst if you are lucky else.... worst case is pay 10 x gst.

Just a word of cautions to those who intent to buy from malaysia .... take extra precautions.

Maybe can just take your camera body with you, then when u wanna come back to Singapore, just mount the new lens to the body. Throw away the box (or put it in the checked baggage) and just save the warranty card :bsmilie:
