sorry mind i ask wads VC?

anyone noe how much this is in japan? as i m gg there soon and any recommendation of shop in tokyo

I just called JEL yesterday, 17-50mm f/2.8 VC (Canon) is not available yet, could be end of the month of early next month according to one marketing guy Daryl.
Another source said the Canon mount will hit the streets of S'pore by nx week but depending on the order from the stores. I hv the N-mount & it's a fantastic lens hence now on my cam most of time:lovegrin:

Argh... can't wait... However, did you encounter any front/back focusing issues when you were making the purchase?

I didn't really test it out much cos was in a rush after finally found one havin searched & called the whole SG but I guess I was lucky to get a good copy:D. I really liked the low light capability and handheld

Think you can forget about getting in Japan as the yen is strong now.
Just came back from Japan last week.
Went to places like Yodobashi and Shinsaibashi, what i can say is the prices for new cameras and lenses are pretty shitty.
Imagine a 50 f1.8 is selling for around S$300+ and a 18-105 f3.5-5.6 is selling close to S$1k.
But their used lenses are priced rather good though.

If i were to get this lens in malaysia or hong kong, how do i check whether its a good copy? Any specific methods/tests to carry out?

If got steady hand can consider Non VC version, is a lot cheaper.
But VC is very handy when taking night photography

I'm using P mode setting ISO 800 Vivid, the Av & SS varies
