Yes, ordered & tested the VC version:cry:

Ordered one happily and went down to test the lens yesterday, at f2.8 50mm Ghosting is very bad especially doing shots on stuff with white wordings(Looks very misty), Ghosting disappeared at f4 and above.

I requested to test a non-vc version with the same setting at f2.8 no problem at all. Didn't pick it up in the end, really disappointed hoping the next shipment will be better.

It seems that there is some QC problem with the new VC version!

Sori to hear that you tried a bad copy. Maybe the ppl at JEL can help you cos all issues may direct at them. Actually this same 'misty' lens happened to one of the foreign reviewer but he finally got a good copy after hhis 4th try. Good luck to you:devil:

Thanks I tested some in other shop with the same issue too. I heard the same as well, some foreign folks tested at least 7 to 8 sets till they get a good one. To be frank to pay a premium for it with such QC is really a turn off, till I get one that is good I will put off my purchase till then.

Unless you are ppl from JEL the C-mount VC version will only hit our streets in another 2 weeks+. Most likely this is the non-VC or BIM version. If VC is out it'll most likely be same as N-mount currently at +/-$980

My Tamron F17-50mm F/2.8 is not VC.
The non VC version cost => The famous John 3:16 quote $650 ,but the shop oppsite quote $618 only

anyone know the latest price for this VC lens?

anyone knows whether the non built in motor model is still available in stores?

Also waiting for Canon mount.. and hope for offer...

Got quoted $920 at OP.
$955 AP.

I just got mine from Hong Kong. Bought it from the Wing Shing in Mongkok. Stock just came in too and I got the first few copies which were sharp and great. Paid HKD 4300 for it.

Image quality is just as good as the non VC version which I also have.

The only thing I could not get used to initially is that the VC "jumps" when it first starts but that's not a problem. Just not similar to Canon or Nikons. Not an issue after using for a while cos you get great photos!

Initially was gonna get the Canon EFS 17-55 2.8 instead but found this was out, tried it and no regrets!

Get one if you can! :)

Dude, can sort of tell me which mtr to alight and is there any landmark near the camera shop u describing? Will be going there in 2 weeks time.

Hi Darenlock,

Drop off at the Mongkok MTR Station. Wing Shing and the rest of the camera/electrical stores are all on a long stretch of road. Ground Floor, 55-57 Sai Yeung Choi Street. Tel: 23966886.

Not all of their stuff are the cheapest and service not the friendliest however, they are about the biggest specialty camera store there. However, prices do vary for certain items from store to store and it's good to walk down the stretch checking prices before purchase.

I bought my Tamron there but my 7D (HKD 12680) from another store. The store is DSC. It's along the same stretch but at the other end. If you smell SMELLY TOUFU, you're near the store.

Citicall also had some good pricing on the lenses there. Bought the Battery Grip BGE-7 (HKD 1600) & finally, my 70-200 2.8IS there too for HKD 13600. Grip same price as S'pore but bought anyway as it was always out of stock in Singapore and didn't want the hassle to wait. This shop also in the middle of the stretch of shops.

The stretch is shops is about 500 metres or longer. So there's a lot of comparisons to make, things to see and it's best to go at night where it's cooler and you see a lot of HK locals.

Hope this helps and ENJOY!
