Maybe the canon one selling for $800 w/GST ;p
Fat hope. I want to the camera shop at Marina square the shop staff gave me a rough quote that it will be 4 digits for the C version. :(

Maybe it is just that shop, since that area shop space rental is more expensive.

Owners of the new Tamron VC, I highly urge u to post 100% crops of pictures using Tamron 17-50mm VC, really love to see how the 4 stop VC performs.

I've post this in another thread b4 but Here are the 100% crop (if I hv done them correctly):dunno: Bear in mind VC or VR is only necessary at high zoom range but it allow me to go to very low SS & minimise effect of any handshakes. I must say the VC is quite noisy compared to VR

Tamron17-50VC 100% crop taken at 1/1.3s f2.8 ISO800

Tamron17-50VC_test2 100% crop taken at 1/10s f5.6 ISO800

Tamron17-50VC_test3 100% crop taken at 1/10s f2.8 ISO1600

Tamron17-50VC_test4 100% crop taken at 1/5s f5 ISO800

Below are 2 taken at 50mm focal length

It's useful in short range as well if you are taking a slow Shutter Speed shot (eg: Waterfall), but hey for these shots who need a F2.8 lens. :bsmilie:

can drag shutter a little longer hand-held in night portrait/flash photos :)

I think Price is the determining factor.. now.. think its always good to have VC... and ref somewhere.. that this is new VC going 3 ways? hope it will not break the 1k barrier.. before 900 would be good! :)

Yes, the VC is the Tamron proprietary design Tri-axial image stabilization mechanism, which controls the effects of camera shake in three planes. The drawing looks great but too technical

Thanks...
now need to look at $$$$ liao... pray...

Thanks for sharing 100%.
This is my Canon 17-55mm as comparision.
1 sec exposure, ISO400, at 17mm.
Technique used: Hold on breath, burst 2 shots, and took the 2nd shot. :)

Ask the half human half vulcan doctor to mass buy and bring over to sg :D Sell at 850 each, earn 50 bucks per glass. Good for us, good for the vulcan, bad for the shops and JEL

Ha, ha, not logical to me to go MY as I got mine in SG. Need warp speed

just to confirm is the canon mount out? thanks

does anyone encounter cannot focus and take the photo for this lens??
I encounter this problem in D90 and have to reinstall the lens again.

So far so good for me except during the 1st week of using the D90 I'd get this problem of F--. Maybe yours is also new? If issue persists I recommend NSC:eek:

One thing when I use my Tammy lenses is I'll always have the habit to double/triple press the shutter release button to ensure the AF is spot on before taking the shot. I understand sometimes there is inconsistency in the AF:dunno:

I used to face that problem too with the no VC version of Tammy 17-50mm on my 350D, maybe send the lens to JEL for calibration? :)

Ordered one happily and went down to test the lens yesterday, at f2.8 50mm Ghosting is very bad especially doing shots on stuff with white wordings(Looks very misty), Ghosting disappeared at f4 and above.

I requested to test a non-vc version with the same setting at f2.8 no problem at all. Didn't pick it up in the end, really disappointed hoping the next shipment will be better.

It seems that there is some QC problem with the new VC version!
