thanks man, i think i got to get it really soon.but realize CP pricing a little pricier.
email them. get an equote. my friend paid 677 all in for this lens and a b+w 67mm uv filter with gst. we did ask around and this came out to be the cheapest
Yup.
Get an equote. I assume your friend got the same quote as me.
$587 before GST, $628 after.
Plus the 67mm B+W $49, total $677.
This is the cheapest i asked around, MSC and John quoted me higher.
Whoa 67mm B+W UV filter for $49? Very cheap!! Usual price is around $85 I think. Which shop quoted you? Better chiong to buy.

$49 for a B+W UV filter? hmm.
any cheaper UV filters available that any of you can recommend?
i'm guessing Hoya will be around the same price.
called AP a few days back and was quoted $630+GST.
not sure if i should buy from them or CP.
Just got myself the Tamron 17-50.
Alot of people commented on front/back focus issue, as well as hunting in low light.
Did a test with the focus test chart, as well as using batteries to test for focus accuracy.
Focusing is spot on for all tests, no front or back focus issue.
As for AF being slow in low light, do not have that problem too.
Tested at Starbucks outlet with lights quite dim, focusing is quite fast.
Very satisfied with the lens at the moment.
The $630 haven't include GST?
Just came back from CP Marina.
They have the 17-50 for Nikon, Canon and Sony at the moment.
$628 inclusive GST.
hi hack, did you get the one with motor or without motor?
thanks for the quick reply.
AP quoted $630 with GST.
i guess i'll buy from CP; from past experience i know that i can do a bit of bargaining there too.![]()
I got the price with their e-quote.
Tried to bargain but fail, maybe my skill at bargaining not good. :bsmilie:
lol you have to be persistent.
i bought quite a bit of stuff from them too, so maybe that helps the bargaining process. ;p
hope i can get a cheap and good filter from them too.
hope my copy won't have that common front/back focusing problem - better print and bring a focusing chart in case. :bsmilie:
Can just bring home and do a thorough test too.
They told me any problem just go back to them and they will do a exchange.
So came home to do all the focus tests, no focusing problem.![]()
yeah they always tell me i can come back for an exchange too.
CP marina is very far from my place though, so i think i'll just bring the chart and make sure the lens functions properly before buying.
need to check a few things before buying; saw some videos of people who have problems with this lens having a loose front element. :dunno:
Hmmm.. Did not have this problem too.
Maybe isolated cases.
Have to check carefully.. i remember i went to one shop out of 3 sets one front focus badly at 17 and 50mm..
Another shop i accompany my friend.. the shop got 5 sets.. heng heng the first set is super sharp. My friend tried a 2nd set.. have bad focusing at 50mm..![]()
