Yeah pictures look reasonably sharp . Another reason why Tamron is chosen is probably becos of the warranty period, 3 years. Maybe getting this lens or the new DX 55-200mm...

Wow... after seeing all the nice photos taken with the 18-200, I think I'm gonna blow my July bonus on it liao!

Anyone for M.O.? :D

me also considering between Tamron 18-200 to Nikon 55-200 (yet to be released). Particularly interested to see how good is teh AFS of the 55-200.
Then will do the comparison.Guess Nikon 55-200 with 2 ED element will not lose out to Tamron..at 200mm

focusing speed could be the factor if I'm to opt for the nikkor dx over the tamron

Heard the 18-200 isn't quite good distortion-wise? Any ideas about this?

The 55-200 isn't a true AF-S though. There isn't a M/A mode, so there's no instant manual focus override. Same thing for the 18-55 Nikkor.

J316 was quoting $670 for this Tamron 18-200mm Di II just last week (late April).

I think MS Color is selling it at either $625 or $650

keke brother, no need MO lah.. just BUY!! ahahah :bsmilie:

I have seen image samples with the SIGMA 18-200 being alot alot better. The DC impress website has a sample, but I cant seem to search for it now.
The SIGMA was much sharper at the corners, sharper in the middle.

one thing for sure..SIGMA 18-200 is cheaper. BUt not sure about the body coating. I heard Sigma has a bad reputation as the coating of the body comes off easily even it is not being seriously scratched...

All pictures are taken RAW and then heavily downsized and reduced in resolution to under 100k.

Taken @ 18mm.

I don't have the Sigma lens. So I can't compare. But I love the range from 18-200mm. So, probably either Sigma or Tamron should be ok - just go for the brand u think u are happy with. :)
