Tamron 18-200

the Pentax 18-135 is like 1100?

i ask myself many times before coming to a conclusion of this lens but now

Just saw this.
Get down to SLR Revo and have a chat with them on the price of this lens. You will be surprised at the price.

I will suggest u try the da/dal 55-300mm . It's a very value for money telezoom lens

i know about that but i hate the fact that it starts from 55.

there at times when i just want to shoot people with 55 it means i have to stand quite a distance away~

any alternatives for me?

what do you need it for? general walk-about? 18-55 is very up to the job.

sharper pix? get a good prime lens. the new DA35 is very good.

constant aperture? tamron 17-50. affordable and sharp.

my experience with superzooms had always been rather disappointing. u end up with long focal length u seldom use, max aperture that's too slow to be truly versatile at the long end even if u do, and so-so image quality at both the extreme wide and long ends.

the main reason some pple get a superzoom is sheer convenience: go on family outings or holidays, just wanna quickly zoom, compose and shoot. don't really mind if its not so sharp and find the slight barrel and pin-cushion distortion acceptable, just want happy pix for memories.

nothing wrong with that. but your expectations are important here. if u end up disappointed with the pix produced, its too late. the moment is gone forever.

u really want an affordable medium zoom, consider the DAL 50-200 or DAL 55-300. they're cheaper, they will allow you to experiment with shooting at 200 or 300mm and the IQ is good.

i've tried 18-55, 28-200 and 18-125 before... my walkabout lens now is the DA*16-50 F2.8 which i will definitely keep for a long time. ultimately, its about knowing what kind of pictures u want to take and getting the right tools to take them.

I'm waiting for pentax to come out DA* 10-400mm F/2.8 :sweat:
I guess have to keep dream on :bsmilie:

u forgot to mention: must also be cheap, small and light, sharp, no distortion and WR :bsmilie:

Yeah. Right. You'd need mount it onto a tank since it will be as long, big and heavy as a tank gun :bsmilie:

this is my reason

get the tamron 18-250mm or the pentax 18-135mm, if budget allows. (their prices are pretty close)

if not, get the tamron/sigma 18-200mm.

another option is to get used 18-250 for around $500

If you have K5, maybe 18-135mm is perfect combination :)

Yeah. Right. You'd need mount it onto a tank since it will be as long, big and heavy as a tank gun :bsmilie:
You make me laugh non-stop :bsmilie::bsmilie:
but what detritus mention must be small and light + WR too haha...
