Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di II (VC or not?)

sigma is coming out with 17-50 OS HSM. maybe you can wait out abit before deciding? unless you need in a hurry haha. i am using the non vc one. am pleased over the outperformance i got compared to the kit lens.

cheers

I personally feel the IQ of the canon 18-55 is on par with the tamron 17-50.

The only reason why I got myself the 17-50 was because of the non-rotating front element so as to allow myself to use a CPL filter more easily.

I'll be going to China soon and I'd like to capture nice landscape shots with a nice blue sky...hence the reason for the 17-50.

However after my trip, I intend to sell the 17-50 and get a 24-105 F4L :D

anyone bothered by the loud noise from their Tamron non VC ? mine is rather loud or is it only my copy ? :(

The AF is one of the loudest on any lens I've heard :P

so cannot use it to shoot insects :) but for the price, wat can I say ?

mine is quite loud too.....gives additional comfort that it's working hard to focus on the object I guess....

silent AF is something really good, but even AF is loud, it doesn't cause any damages on the image you taken right?
anyway, VC or non-VC, both are sharp and good lens. i'll look forward to tamron releases a new 17-50 with USD =)
