Hi hi

Tamron 17-50 is really very good.

But some copies have front and back focusing issues. Better to use a focus test chart to test before buying. This problem can be a pain according to some CSers.

Hi, i am going down either today or the weekends to get the wonderful 17-50 tammy.
Was wondering how would u guys normally approach the uncle to test out the lens? And as the above, bring a chart down??? Abit on the extreme side i feel.. hehe. Nevertheless, advise me on ways or how do i make it polite to approach the uncle without offending them.

Thanks!

i, too, went thru this dilemma previously. and in the end, i also settled for the tammy. no regrets. my fav lens!

What camera are you using?
Did you mount the lens hood properly?
Are you stacking filters?
How obvious are the dark edges?
What are your exposure settings?
Does it occur all the time?
Do you have sample images?
Can we see them?

Hey, mind letting us know which format are u using? DX or FF?

If a DX lens is mounted on a FX body it will produce dark edges(i duinoe wad to call it) at the nearest focal length.

To TS: I too read up on both lens and several lens too(Tamron 28-75, Sigma 28-70).

My conclusion was Tamron 17-50 because of several reasons.

1. Comparison of reviews by fellow CSers.

2. The price is worth the buy.

3. Most of the pictures i took, the focal length belongs to the group of 17-50mm.

4. I like the built and feeling when i tested the 17-50 at a shop.

So, choose what you really need. For me, the extra 20mm on Sigma dosen't really make much a of a difference.

I use a fuji S5.... Just sold off my 18-70 F3.5-4.5 and bought the 17-50... Very happy with it so far. Go for the constant F2.8... That extra 20mm zoom isn't of much use. But then again i say that cuz i also have a 28-70 F2.8 tokina lol

Thanks for all the reply..i found out the cause of the problem.is due to stacking of filters. I attach the polarizing filter over the UV filter. I tot is my lens problem.in future will take note abt this..

Haizz...again...i notice the dark edges..i am using 400D..

Again I'm going to ask you...

Are you using a hood?
Did you mount the lens hood properly?
Are you stacking filters again?
How obvious are the dark edges?
What are your exposure settings?
Does it occur all the time?
Do you have sample images?
Can we see them?
