It really isnt that much of a noise when it comes to outdoors...haha

I see people complaining how loud the Tam 17-50 is...

Obviously these are people who started shooting recently and have not heard the AF sounds of lenses from the older film days. :bsmilie:

yea it is kinda loud in quite places, but still i find the sound quite reasonable. even if your lens is super silent, what about your shuttle..haha

Haha ya pple like me didn't use film cameras that's why we wouldn't compare with those film cameras. And true, we wouldn't mind the loudness, just saying that it's a little loud? :)

Using the Tammy 17-50 VC version and i got no issues with the noise, infact its slightly quieter den the non VC version.Speakin abt the focus noise? my frend bought a sony alpha prime 85 lens and place it on his Nex5 and the slow auto focus with e noise coming from it is so much louder =)

Hi, have you guys encountered when trying the lens for Tamron 17-50mm F/2.8 VC, when you first press the half shutter, the image in the viewfinder shakes alot before auto focusing? i'm interested in getting this lens, went to Cathay photo and tried 3 copies of the lens and it all had the same issue. i asked the sales person what is the issue but no one can answer me.. anyone know if this is a case of defect lens?

Have used the 17-50 with VC before it quite a sharp lens for the price, just change to Sigma 17-50 F2.8 OS been really satisfied with it.:)

That is normal. It means the VC is working. If you want a quicker focusing lens, try the Sigma 17-50mm OS HSM but it will cost more.
