I found Chinese in gerneral, is the most hostile when being photographed on the street, and Singaporean tops the group.
Agreed! Even more so are teenagers. They worry that they will look "unglam".

Street shooting is fun! I find it more comfortable shooting overseas than in Singapore here... I just give the very "sau ku" - tourist look whenever I walk around... Ya, looks like a fool, but you can fool many others as well coz they will most likely think that you are not a "threat" to them... Behave extremely like a tourist, over exaggerate it... That's what I do...hey yo CSers

agree with this...and to make it much more "easier"...find a placestand in the open with your camera in full view, and let all the passers by get used to your presence. take a few photos of the general scene. after a while they will ignore you and you can take all the candids of ppl you want. smiling helps, but if ppl get hostile, just walk away.
it is easier to seek forgiveness than permission.
it is easier to seek forgiveness than permission.
so how u ask the subject?
May be a personality difference.
Why make a "mistake" and then seek forgiveness, when you could get permission in the first place?
If permission is not given, what then is the problem? Just turn your attention to something else!
Coz sometimes, when they turn to pose or when they agree, tha magic of the moment is gone.
so how u ask the subject?
