I was taught that one shouldn't crop people at their joint areas (elbows, ankles, waist, neck, etc) while taking pictures but never "show full or none". I totally agree with the picture taken reflects what your heart "sees" at that point of time, not the eyes as long as the pictures are not horrendously taken.
