Taiwan from my eyes

I did some googling and found the picture, that's a very nice temple.
How tall is the statue ? it looks very big also
Too bad I got no chance to go to kaohsiung :(

Thanks alot for the kind comment :)

My friends said the fireworks will be on the building itself (something like this), it's not a kind of flower fireworks that shot up like in Singapore. So I'm thinking of taking the shot from the street area (maybe xiyin). But it'll be super duper crowd, if u want to come to that area during new year's eve, better come as early as possible bro.
Another idea will be to take countdown fireworks at Miramar, the amount of fireworks there seems to be massive :) --> Video

But whichever place you choose, they are expecting hundreds of thousands of ppl to be there :).

Maybe it'll be same like HK, 2 years ago I want to see the fireworks at victoria harbour. When I step out from the hotel at Tsim Tsa Tsui at 11pm, there are already line of ppl 2km before the harbour and there's no way u can walk further. Finally gave up and watch the firework from TV hehehe ;p.

111. Great Standing Maitreya Buddha

Haha! You are wrong. I went there in Feb. We were attracted by the huge statue from far, so decided to detour over there. As we parked on the opposite side of the temple, we had to crossed the 吊桥 to reach that place. Indeed it was a massive statue while
standing below it.

It was not a planned destination though, somehow we got there. Trying to find the photo from my album....

Anyway, very good Taiwan Holiday photos! Hiking during the weekends are in fact Taiwanese favourite past time.

ooppsss ;p
I thought there's not much publication for this area yet, so never thought tourist will come to this area during their vacation.
Thanks for the comments and corrent hiking in Taiwan is very fun. Most of the trails are well marked and the views from the top are splendid, worth the effort.

And also we were joking about the few lightning rods on it's head, just like a few strands of hair left behind....

The other magnificent place is in Taichung, 中台禅寺,which has 4 great gods holding up 4 corners of the building, which signifies 风调雨顺. For the explainations, you need to ask your friend. My Mandarin also 1/2 full one. Haha!

Wah, that's pretty shiok. Mixing business with pleasure :bsmilie:
I just came back recently, was there from 6th to 22nd.

Did you go to the Pingxi Rail line? If you're into hiking, can try the sandiaoling trail. I hiked until the second waterfall then give up liao...if you do go, remember to carry your camera in a backpack cos the trail can get pretty steep....
