cluster phobia? that is why they need to use ladders "to be on top of people so can look down on them":bsmilie:
Well, I wouldn't dare make this statement as a general statement, nor am I being offensive/defensive here. I do have friends who use ladders during events. At least for those I know, the use of ladders is not
"to be on top of people so can look down on them".
As the stages for most events are usually elevated, it is not possible for you to get an eye level shot of the models/performers. The ladder is a tool that allows you to get an eye level shot because you would stand more or less on the same level of the stage. Of course, it has the added advantage of not squeezing with tons of photographers in front because you can shoot from further behind if you have a long lens.
With that said, I do find some ladder users very inconsiderate. Some use short lenses and stand in front of many people to shoot. :nono: I guess to avoid pissing people off, a ladder user should have the courtesy of using a long lens and standing further behind. I look it this as a trade off.
Of course, there will people who agree or disagree with me. But this is a personal sentiment. You do not have to agree with me.
All else said, I do not own a ladder, but am contemplating of buying one.:bsmilie:
P/S: I'll be considerate enough not to stand too much in front and block the rest though.
Once again, to reiterate what I said at the beginning of this post, this post is not a rebuttal, defensive post. I do not have any personal agenda against anybody. Just sharing my thoughts, as many have done.
