for the extra 100mm when compare to the 70-300 it seems quite expensive.
However, the extra reach when doing wildlife photography may make this seems worthwhile.... what do you think?

Ya I suppose there must certainly be a value in that extra 100mm, for people to wanna buy it and thus for Nikon to produce it.

It depends on your perspective of "sky"... Frankly, 70-200 maybe steep... but to a number (not me hor), it's actually not that sky-high... 300/2.8 VRII is still attainable to a few. 400/500/600 are actually the sky-high. Then again, knowing that certain small musical instruments actually costs roughly a 200-400/4 VRII... I'm bordering to actually calling the cost of 70-200 "peanuts"... :bsmilie: *ducks*
Weight wise...initially you'll feel the weight. The more you shoot with it, the easier it becomes. I'm quite surprised that my left arm has not even developed a "bulge"... goes to show that it's really not that heavy yet. Now, 200/2, 300/2.8 onwards... those are indeed heavy - and I'm very sure worth their weight in gold...

When you use the long lenses with VR built in to them, then it starts making sense why Nikon and Canon have stuck to this system despite the "oh, ALL lenses become stabilised lenses due to our sensor-shift technology" arguments from the other camps.
Yeah unfortunately it costs more, but you do get what you pay for. And to the folks whose photos help pay the bills, this difference is worth the extra price

yeah agree with you.
Bamboo + BG + LX3 feels heavy but not unmanageable. Still can shoot!
