Bro tripod screw mount is hardened stainless steel fused to your mag alloy frame. No worries about it wearing off.

And bro ZCA is correct. Batt grip do not boost AF speed. I use grip at times also and I remove the L plate. It is not comfortable to use grip and still use L plate. So I figured that the non gripped version is good enough.

Thanks bro DD, your advice and reply is very much appreciated :)

I know you are a "prime" guy but don't you feel you are lacking in focal length from 85mm onwards?
*hint* get the 70-200 f2.8 :)

1 word for you: NO

:)

If thinking of that price level of 50/1.4g, might as well go for sigma 50/1.4 which IMHO performs better than the G lens.
just checked the reviews and discussion. The generally conclusion I can make from these reviews and discussion, if one is shooting mostly wide open and portraits, Sigma 50 f1.4. For best corner to corner sharpness at smaller aperture, Nikkor AFS 50 f1.4.

Thanks for the recommendations bros. Arrrrgh!!!! Decisions decisions!

The question is:
If you are using smaller aperture, why would you be using a fast prime?
If you are after sharpness at the extreme corners, why use a fast prime with thin DOF?

sometimes it helps to think about the intended use for the lens (as opposed to using a standard zoom, for example) instead of reading technical reviews religiously...

I know you are a superzoom guy, but don't you feel you are lacking a lens with a large aperture, that makes your subjects stand out? ;)

It depends on how you use the lens... Not always you'd put the subject dead center... sometimes you might compose the image by putting the subject off center - maybe towards the extremes of the edges... Then that is when you'll require corner sharpness?

Portrait and Newborn Photography at Sam@8Q this friday... who's going, quick!

wah.... poison arrow flying back....

Actually, 70-200 can do pretty well with punching out subjects... the trouble is weight, AND distance. You don't always want to stand too far away... ;) I want a nice 50mm coz of walk-arounds... But if I can't reach the subject well enough - 80/70-200 will do the trick just as well.

I have a 17-50 f2.8. I think that is pretty good for me for now. :p

I'm sorta considering 135DC actually, though I really don't think I need the lens... hahaha more of a want.
See how the prices go when (rumoured) 135VR comes out :) If can grab at good price, why not eh?

HELP! My tripod has grown! I have difficulty fitting it into my Benro tripod bag now.... :o

Oi... you sure you saw the correct lens? I think it's 105 f/2 VRII leh... not 135... You still can wait longer if you WANT to... :bsmilie:

I will wait as long as it takes, buddy! :)
No need for this lens as yet.
Heck even my 85 has seen precious little use so far, so a telezoom will almost certainly rot in the cabinet... hehehehe.
