My friend is a hobbyist. he got the nikon trinity lenses: 17-35, 70-200 VR2, and 200-400. He also got the medium-format...

Urm dun anyhow say leh.... Most peeps refer to the Trinities as 14-24/24-70/70-200... As for 200-400, now... hardly a trinity coz it's an f/4.... :bsmilie: But of course one of these can buy the entire "trinity" set... VR II of course...

I thought it is :
1. Cool.. in crowd.. DSLR, so old fashion...
2. Prefer to use manual focus.. AF mechanism pay and make to look good only, not for use.
3. Dont like Akerue's camera (Nx10).. bigger sensor dont like.. prefer M4/3.. nicer.
4. HOW WOULD I KNOW... I not even a GWC level user!!!.. heheheee

i think my friend's set was the version 1.0 of the trinity lenses.

the ones you mentioned was the version 2.2 of the trinity lenses... ROFL

btw, his 200-400 one is the type can be used on film, DX and FX... the legendary monster... nikon retail price now is S$13k++

Bro, me and Akerue are familiar with which lens you're talking about already.

VRII has already surpassed the first version. As for 13K, that's MSRP (full retail) - nobody buys at that price... And if you don't believe me, that same lens you've just pointed out, fetches around 6K + on the BnS market... New VR II IS around 9K+ as Akerue mentioned. A whole LOT Cheaper if you buy it from overseas...

Luckily your friend didn't try to sell his zoom here at 13K... It will be pretty hard to hold back our cynicisms then...

SDW. That's the rrp dude.. Vr1 is around 8k++ brand new while the vr2 is 9k++ new... I just got quoted a few days back..

I havent test the vr2... But the vr1 is already good enough....
