Good Enough for me.. Plenty to Shoot.. maybe it would be better to catch more daylights shoots but the atmosphere after midnight was fantastic!!... Hindu music still ringing in my ears..

sleepy.. going to slumberland soon.. likely to put in my thread.. as ZCA said.. this is a TCSS thread..

This family very, very, very traditional and devoted.. one of the guys in this group was also very involved.. from I can understand from talking to a few devotees is that this is a way for them to "pay-back" when their prayers are answered.. (at least that is for the kavadi..etc..).. there are also those that does it every year.. and even pass down from earlier generation..
Have even seen some go into a trance.. this shot was taken at temple in tank road.. end of the journey.. may have added to the pain and emotion..

Yo BananaDiver - that could be me... guess you have seen me than..

There are quite a few with video light and plenty with flashes.. and it is polite to turn off if devotees feel blinded..

I would have to agree with banana that no matter what, as photogs we must show respect to the subjects.

They are going through a very intense religious experience, so must be sensitive always..

better luck next year... maybe will go batu cave next year... just do hope not so many photographers around there... miss quite a lot of chances this year... oh well... haha... lol

cheers

The word here is BEING SENSITIVE and knowing LIMITS... work within boundaries and dont be offensive.. I dont want to go into right or wrong issue.. right or wrong occassion, use of this or that.. etc...

I personally do feel it is impt to work within boundaries.. If there is discomfort.. you have to step off, you cant do a good human subject shoot without your subject being involved and trusting.. which is why I spend time with most of my subjects.. (whenever possible, today it was either subject or family members of the subject).. which is also why I got to learn more about the hindu religion, weight of the kavadi, size of lime, why milk, etc.. which I guess it is also why i got offered fruits together with family members, which is also why I got email address to send pictures, etc..
