I have a question. anyone using B+W 10 stops filter?

This filter is always giving a warm color to the picture and I am shooting all in RAW.
Most of the time is quite strong Magenta when using this filter.
What I do now is decrease or cut the magenta when processing.

For example: If the Metadata shows 7 for Magenta, I will have to cut it to about minus 5 or 7 and adjust the WB according to what I remember the sky on that day shoot.
I hope this is right but still confuse.

When using the 6 stops, I dont have much problem with the Magenta.

You can see it in my thread.
#52 - with 6 stop filter and the blue is correct.
#53 - with 10 stop filter and is the closest to what I remember. But i have to cut alot of magenta away to get it right.

Anyone have this?::think:

the b+w does gives a warm tint. and the tianya gnd gives a magenta tint.
This can be corrected during pp. How I do correct.... hmmm.... just by gut feeling.... what I feel is natural :p or sometimes I got lazy, I will just pp the jpeg instead and using the autos.

Another way is to always take a test shot first before putting on the filter. This shot not only let you calculate the exposure but also a reference record of the light condition then.

NNB, WC, DD123 and N86m are some of the experts. ;)

Hi Uncle CT, yes I always take a test shot first to take metering and then put on the filter. But just have to remember the sky for that day also.
Thanks
Have to go to sleep now. tomorrow got school.
Good night........

secondly, don't be overly fixated with the rule of thirds. Learn to move past rules. You can pull off horizons in the middle. Case of point, reflections, panoramas. In this case, the panoramic format is more forgiving...although the more exaggerated the better, IMO.

Just don't want to get into arguing for things like this. No point. but still need to rant a bit to let off steam.

Rules of thirds are what the ancient greeks studied and found that pictures obeying this golden rules are the most pleasing to the eyes. And it is still very relevant today. Going past or breaking the rule is when circumstances allows or composition as such to bring about a point...etc... In this case having the horizon in the middle make the photo neither here nor there. Should viewer look at sky or at mountain??

Panoramic format more forgiving?? rules still apply. the exaggerated ones are the worst as it goes beyond normal human field of view and distort badly especially for scene with any part of it close up. The best panoramic are the ones without distortion and other than a large fov, one can't tell if it is stitched.

phew... time for me to sleep.

Actually bro, the one that the ancient civilizations came up with is not rules of thirds, but the golden ratio (aka phi). This is the result of applying the golden ratio:

The length of each square from small to big = Fibonacci sequence.

How, very Da vinci code right? LOL.

BTW, ignore that dude la. just look at his pictures. A picture says a thousand words.

discuss over dinner? ;)

Since 3 of us (me,zca & manita) are comfortable for both day, so just make it simple; who's the one (NNB or DD123) can treat us a nice curry fish head on this coming dinner, then we follow his required day, okay..;)
