If you have different things that you have used whilst you were there, probably ok la. But how are ya gonna answer for a few pcs of the same lens?? :)

unless you are buying for friends or intending to bring back to sell.... why would I buy more than one piece of the same lens?

someone suggested to bring back a few copies to 'earn back' the airfare.
was it you? :)

say, btw, I spoke to my engineering supplier today. He says if you make the L-plate as simple as possible (eg. buying an aluminium L-bracket with sharp 90degree as the start point), it's possible to machine out the arca-swiss rails for something like $40 or maybe even less, nicely polished and blackened of course.... :)

who's keen?

Har, got group meh??
Macam like rock band?
My buddies whom have joined the previous year, all decided quits...

Currently alone, planning to find few buddies..
So,are u on-board?
I did try to register.... somehow I just couldn't pay online with my card...
last night, went in to check.... registration closed.:bheart:
There is still a chance which is to go there early and join a queuing list.... don't think I will on board.

But if i think 1 or 2 is ok.. small items esp..

I bot 50 f1.4D bk fr bro bert the other time from HK.. all wrapped up nicely in its orginal packaging.. They stopped me, ask a few questions and let me go..

So smetimes depends on hing suay...

So long is nt new, u r not liable to pay gst..

So if u ask someone bring it for u.. Mk sure package is open n show signs of use..

Very subjective one. But once the package is open, and the lens in a camera bag or something, they usually don't bother. But if you have multiple copies of the same lens, that might come under suspect. That is if they even bother to ask you to open up to check. Most of them don't, as they are only looking for contraband cigarettes.

think I have read a thread here somewhere someone bought a camera bag to put in the lens he bought in hk....

these days they are more worried about anything of security concern......and contraband...

not me... but these things happen not just with camera stuff.... if you walk the local flea market, you will find that there are many things people bring back from a buying cum holiday trip.

Anything u find useful under sgd300 (aft shipping inclusive)
but small amount hor, you don't quite feel the 'kick' of the savings due to the weaker USD.

300USD @ 1.35 = S$405
300USD @ 1.29 = S$387

hmmmm

finally... I was wondering what happen with the L-bracket yesterday.
How thick do you think the L-bracket need to be?

if buy in standard sizes will be cheaper.
He mentioned 3mm, 5mm, 6mm, etc

I think 6mm thick will be sufficient.

edit: price is based on large quantity of course... Something like 50pcs. Otherwise the anodizing/polishing process is not too economical.
Anyway I gotta give him more specific dimensions, then we'll fine-tune the design to reduce cost as much as possible, and he'll make 1 pc for me to try try.
Once confirm and green light, then hoot liao!

I wonder if Kit has read this condition....

Normally he's the first one to highlight it :dunno:

What is cheap leh. I compare Canon lens, like not much difference leh.

regarding the L-plate for arca-swiss clamp, I wanted to get some measurements from you guys who are keen on this, and with non-D90 bodies. Basically to measure the space for the cut-outs for the side flaps, etc.

For economies of scale, I suggest sticking to the arca-swiss clamp, since Sirui/Markins are fairly popular here.

We could meet up at the next SunChasers outing, or perhaps over a kopi/meal somewhere convenient.
date/time still open for discussion :)
