We might skip Epi.

We heard Epi causes some very bad side effects...
My good friend's dad is a gynae...
Apparently many expecting mums try to gung-ho at the beginning, opting for natural option... then when pain too much they ask for the epi, but too late to administer...

It's something to consider... Gotta weigh up the options.

Congrats congrats congrats! Still long for me before I feel kancheong about the birth of my child. Still single n not so young not so old. Haha
Next time SunChasers outing we have socialising section for those singles? :) But not many lady photogs leh... :bsmilie:

Yep, had a friend who has delivered earlier this to a BBgirl... boy... excrutiating for her man... labour is no joke. Some prefer the side-effects over the labour pain... Anyway, not trying to convince anyone that Epi is good - it is just personal preference...but must think REALLY carefully and wisely.

Thought the same as well.. most of my friends i know have cold feet las min and opt for epi.

We see how it goes.. still abit early for us aso..hee

Talking about Epi, I was administered the same drug during my 5-hours operation. So I was awake while the doctors butchered me and treated me like a piece of meat, while they hack, saw, drill and screw rods and screws in ... so I was aware of what was happening, even with the epidural, towards the end, I was starting to feel the pain from the screwing in of the screws through the flesh ... God now they want me to go through it to take out the screws!

If the delivery is at most less than an hour, take the Epi!

Wah... sounds bad bro...

Actually I didn't know epidural was used outside of childbirth :)
Shows how little medicine I know :)

LOL! No distinction between men or women, except how they make you lay down on the table. Legs wide open facing the ceiling or otherwise!

it is actually a place somewhere in your spinal cord where anesthetic is pumped in to numb the nerve that carries the pain signal to the brain.

For those who might want to be administered, talk to your doctor or wiki for the possible negative effects it might have.

All drugs have side effects. It depends on how serious they are. For some, the experience can be negligible. To others, it may not be felt at all as if nothing happened... Yet again, there is probably a minority few that felt it at full strength.. The thing is, you definitely need to know what the side effects are - doctors / nurses would let you know about them anyway. They can't not let you know.

What you need to think about is... side effects (possible only hor, not confirmed everyone will experience it) versus full set of intense, nerve-wrecking, (sometimes even longer) unbearable labour pain... You let your wife think about it and choose the lesser of two evils... Forget about "your mother dun have epi, if she can tahan, sure can you" bull crap lah... Back in those days, you think epidural exists already meh? If have, you think none of them will opt for it? Think very wisely and seriously... as it is no joking matter.

If one day, technology allows even male to go pregnant and then wife die-die want you to go through it... I want to see how many of you would be gung-ho as well... :bsmilie: For me no need to think one, Epi for me! :bsmilie:

Btw: I was beside my wife during delivery... even though she took epi and went smoothly... your ka will still go wobbly one! Because the experience is soooo special, you want to see suffering?

Note: my wife wants to share her experience your wives. For her, even during normal PMS cycle - she doesn't feel much one (this, the women should know better what she's trying to say)... when she took epi, she could still feel the sensation (not exactly pain, I can't describe it) during labour... For those who can get very cranky during normal PMS (as they are experiencing much discomfort) and then still don't opt for epi... just imaging that the labour pain is going to be much much more... This is her message, now up to you to decide...

:bsmilie::bsmilie: You sure are right! heng-ah! I managed to stick through it all the way.... Luckily she took epi and no freightening screams and hair pulling experience... otherwise, I'd need a chair and probably an oxygen tank next to it... :bsmilie:
