I used HDR for this... one of the few times I use it.

Can the HDR experts spot if I made any errors? Halo? Waves too white? Sea too bright? Rocky problems?

:dunno: posted here

Bro, FG brighter than BG :nono: and little signs of halo on rocks and at boundary..:nono:

i stopped using HDR liao ever sinced i started digital blending.. :)

poor thing...
weather always a huge factor... can't be helped la...!

See that's why we must have plan B for our outings :D portrait shooting hor? :bsmilie:
So far have been quite fortunate with the weather. Don't think a single Newbies Outing has been cancelled due to poor conditions... but can't keep pushing lady luck...!

When it is raining heavily, what kind of themes can we explore har? Why let the weather spoil our shooting opportunities? There must be some thing we can divert to right?

How come not considering the 10-22 leh ???

I am looking at the f2.8 too..
I find that I used that quite alot on my 17-50mm Tamron.
Still considering....

Yeah I diverted..We couldn't get out of the car...so ended up taking some portrait shots of my sis's Piglet softtoy inside the car, with 'cats and dogs' rain outside... :bsmilie::bsmilie:

Did that for about an hr before moving off to join my friends for breakfast..
Met Mr & Mrs Scuba and interprid there..=p

But you will almost never use 2.8 on wide angle lens .....

wah. the price quite high. TK quoted me I think about 93X-95X when i asked.

Better than the previous price you were quoted, huh? Aren't you glad joined CS? D90 club maybe poisonous, but we're still here to save you some serious bucks........for more serious BBB... :bsmilie:

Unless you're shooting for bokeh? Non-landscape theme?

Ya...I know..for landscape..won't need such a big aperture..
I am looking at using it for both landscape and indoor(like tight places) shooting.
I am still considering...

Ya..I saw a new pc is abt 900 plus..
But this one has 1.5 yrs warranty...so not sure if it's worth...

If you slap on ND110, will it get some kind of misty effect instead of rain? :p

Hi dawngel, I'm planning to get Tokina 11-16 too. Hopefully can get the time to buy this week so can bring it for the outing this saturday. :D

Artworkphoto is selling for $910, but I think it's only 1 shop year warranty.
TK is selling for $940 last I checked, but I forgot to ask about the warranty.

Hope you don't mind my noob question - are the rocks a bit unnaturally bright for that time of the day? You've been there, so do you recall the actual scene? I think it's okay to boost the highlights or details up a little as I've seen in some photography magazines... Maybe the clouds above did cast a secondary source of omni light into the scene that justifies the level of lightness. Also, if the foreground rocks are that bright, shouldn't the rock slight above (middle of the image) be just a bright as well?

Good morning guys!!
Wah so early got photos...

WC, I dunno if I'm wrong or not, but I thought I spotted some halo-ing around the boundary between rocks and water. It looks like it may just be the waves though. However, there seems to be a discrepancy in brightness between rocks and water.

Ahhahaaa... me then the noobie.

Actually the rocks were totally in the dark (large mass of silhouette); the reason why I used HDR was because I wanted to bring the rocks back to light. Guess I overdid it. The white parts were actually darker and I tried making it darker (it's caused by waves but should still be darker) but still too bright.

OK, try again next pic maybe tonight or tmr. Thanks a lot for the comments; failed badly. Haha.
