awesome

was planning to stop by Putrajaya on my way to or from KL this weekend.
The Putra Mosque is really eye-catching.

Just wondering what the restrictions are with regards to me (non-Muslim) hanging around a mosque with a DSLR. Have always been a bit wary of venturing into the grounds. Also my Malay is really half-past-six, so I don't know how to ask for permission.

Thinking of getting a ND filter. Just wondering why not consider those vari-ND types. It's cheaper and more versatile rite? Any issues i should know about?

Should be ok, it's a well-known landmark so they should have seen lots of tourists around. If you see a tourist group, mingle in and snap away. Do note:

Don't take shots of anyone praying in the mosque.
If you step inside the prayer hall, remove your shoes.
Try to act natural and discrete at the same time.
If in doubt, trust your instinct. Don't linger too long.

Bro vari ND is just 2 CPL's together, or one linear PL and one CPL.

Problem is, once you get to high densities, you get cross banding.

ok noted, bro.... Thanks!
Will practise on the "act natural and discrete" bit... hehehe...

Talking about filters, i dont have a ND110. Should I get the screw in type or buy it for the Lee Filter holder type ..

If you have a lee holder already, you can consider the big stopper. But it is out of stock bro. Must order from CP.

I see. For 10mm on a crop sensor, do you recommend i get the 82mm filter and a step down ring to 77mm? Any issues with vignetting?

I think unless you plan on getting more filters or wanna play with the GND type then the screw in ND110 is fine.

Have you ordered it yet? My name is on the list since Tuesday...:devil:

Btw, just FYI, there is vignetting at the extreme corners at 10mm (using Nikon's lens) with Lee's UWA 77mm ring. Next time I'll remove the glass protector and see if I can avoid this issue. Just a heads-up, peeps.

Next outing, grab someone's ND110 and test test :)
10mm is pretty wide. Dunno if there'll be vignetting issues, even with slim filter.

I think scuba has the Lee holder already, so Big Stopper FTW!!

Bro for UWA, I really think you should think twice la. Borrow 2 CPL from friends and try out first.

CPLs do funny stuff to UWAs due to the extremely wide angle. and 82/84mm filters are damn bloody expensive.

Big stopper must reserve ah, i rem reading earlier about that .... NNB got yours already?
