Hi Everyone,
Need everyone's opinion on this lens as I am seriously considering purchasing it. I honestly cant afford the Noctilux so this has to be my poor man's version....Any comments and advise is very much appreciated.

Thanks :) :)

the summilux asph is not a substitute for the noctilux...

but the lux asph is an excellent lens, esp if you want super sharp pics wide open

I consider this the perfect lens. Near focusing, bitingly sharp, high contrast, almost no distortion. What is there to ask? GO get it!

Agreed  those that replied here will attest to the qualities this outstanding lens possesses however it ain't no Noctilux like Cactus jACK mentioned. Yeah, Go for it ;)

Heard about the outstanding performance on this lens. Definitely something I lust after. I think f/1.4 is just about right for ease of handling. In my opinion, f/1.0 is really razor thin for depth of field and not exactly easy to handle.

Cheers,

Hi Exeryone,
Thanks for all your comments...appreciate it. :)

If you want super sharp, yes, this is an excellent lens. But if you want a little of Noct's look or older lenses' rendition, can consider the pre-asph. I'm getting to like older lenses better.:)

Agree with Gommy. The 50 pre asph lux has about 70% characteristic of the Noct. :-) Smaller, more compact and at a fraction of the prices of the current noct! Now the new prices for the last batches of the noct is at around $12K..:)

Well, it is a rather forgiving lens. At f1.4, it maintains a nice enough DOF sharpness center. The bokeh is smooth but clean.

Due to its size, I would take this lens out anytime rather than the Noctilux. I am still developing a love hate relationship with my Noctilux though.

Gommy, you are in a love love relationship huh?

In love love relationship not just the Noct but every single one of my lenses. Polygamy:bsmilie::lovegrin::heart:
