Suggestions for BnS and Services Wanted sections

Some sellers only have 1 or 2 posts, perhaps they are actually regular members on the forum, they register new account just to sell things, maybe in less upright manner and thereafter they just disappear after the items sold. If they were shady, it doesn't affect their regular membership.

Scammers and Spammers can easily register and start selling too.

Very often all these people does not contribute or discuss in the regular forums.

Some of them are just sneaky advertisers or commercial sellers not paying their dues.

On Services Wanted forum, there is also many commercial 'hunters' trying to prey on eager yet street-inexperience photographers to shoot for free unfairly.

Clubsnap administrators might wish to consider restricting members with less than certain amount of posts and less than certain amount of months of membership from posting in buy/sell and Services Wanted sections. This will reduce chances of bad dealing and greatly reduce the amount of spam and administrative efforts to remove and police them.

This also gives members of good standing and genuine intentions a higher and fairer chance.

I know some other hobby forums practice this too, like members with less than 3 months of membership cannot post in those sections, members with less than 200 posts cannot too, etc, etc.

Mods could deregister these sneaky people, but it only take them 10 minutes to re-register and back in action. However having a barrier in terms of number of post and membership age, it makes it way harder for them.

JMHO and suggestion.

i just hope it can be reopen again, allow people to post replies. it's really dumb in the current format.

I concur. At least feedbacks can be posted and sellers will be forced to answer and reply to interested buyers. Like that more clearer.

Maybe one of the new comers are culprit. But not everyone is culprit.

I know some friends. They are executive and have other full time jobs. Photography is only one of their hobbies.

It is not fair for them if there is such a rule that "less than 200 posts cannot post in B&S". They are busy people and don't have time for chatting till 200 post lah.

May I suggest a trader's rating system like in some of the other forums? Just had a bad deal with 1 of the members here :( With a rating system, at least when a deal gone bad, feedbacks can be submitted on that person to warn others of.

Just my 0.00001c

IMHO, everyone else is also busy, not just executive with full time jobs. And I believe majority of the CSers are also people with full time jobs or even with more sidelines.

To use the BnS services, its only fair a member contributes to the discussions and not only taking but not giving.

a simpler method is to register, compulsory real name and handphone, which will be auto shown when doing BNS, or at least handphone is hidden for privacy.

Bump for more consideration ;)

Yes making that a part of the post does help, besides if someone decides to become fraudster. That verified number can be used to setup a page which lists names and numbers of those people. So others can be vary of them. The idea of a minimum number of posts also helps as fly by night operators get put off by that. If a SMS verification system can be built into the forum that would be fabulous . If its going to cost a substantial amount then members should contribute. I'd be more than happy to do so. It's only because of clubsnap that my camera has begun to see more action.

So a extra vote for
1. Minimum posts
2. SMS verification of mobile number
3. Allow the reply to posts in the bns section
