Suggestion on B&S forum.

There's a sub-forum in B&S for "Olympus Equipment" and "Micro Four-Thirds". Although there's a sticky stating infraction will be given if user post in both forums but basically ppl still post in both forums.

So I'm thinking maybe all micro 4/3 sales will go into "Micro Four-Thirds" forum and "Olympus Equipment" will just be Olympus compact camera sales, not micro 4/3 equipment at all. I find it quite pointless to have 2 sub-forums selling the same stuff. In that case there should be a forum for "Panasonic Equipment" too but that will be more pointless.

Above is just my humble opinion. Thanks! :D

The olympus bns subforum is for old film, 4/3 (non micro), as well as compact cameras.

Mods, will it help with the enforcement if users report the cross-posted threads?

It probably makes sense for M4/3 to be grouped together because the M4/3 users can use different brand's lenses.

Yup, I understand that but if you have a look at the olympus subforum it seems like most of them are micro4/3 sales thread.

I just personally feel that it might be better and neater if all m43 sales thread goes into the m43 bns subforum. :)

Sellers are trying to optimize their exposure to selling their equipment.
Maybe when mods see such double postings, they can consider deleting the m4/3 posts in Olympus sub-forum when sighted.
This enforcement can stop such practice effectively.

actually there's a stated warning the users who 'double post' for the same item on both Olympus and MFT threads will earn them a 10 points infraction. How much this is enforced I'm not sure but I'm sure we can report 'double posts' and leave the moderators to help clean up since very clear rules have been established already.

while i do agree with the logic of the TS, and there is merit to the suggestion IMO, perhaps the interim measure will be that CSers actually read the description of the individual sub-forums before posting? the stickies are also there for a reason. as part of the team of mods that cleans up after everyone, i cannot even begin to tell you the hair-pulling moments we have about CSers indiscriminate posting in buy/sell, and how we receive complaints by other irate CSers who complain about not being able to find what they want to buy/sell or about the search generating so much returns that it pi55ed them off. (and you all still think being the mod is glamourous/power grabbing/ego tripping etc...)

and the best thing? some of the offenders are senior members themselves, and not those 1-post wonders. like i just deleted a post in Canon buy/sell before writing this from a 100+ post CSer who wants to WTB a dry cabinet.... the last time i checked, Canon still makes cameras and lenses.... :mad2:

CSers may think it is fun to indiscriminately post/spam buy/sell. but you do not realise that creates a whole bunch of mess we have to clean up. also, with so many repeated posts residing inside the server, it actually slows down the system since the search engine needs to cache so many threads... which then ends up pi55ing you off, which then you will write to us to complain... wash, rinse, repeat.

help us to help yourself, please?
