Hey guys
My bro is looking for a camera for his wife for Christmas, n asked me for recommendations, and with these requirements, I was kinda stumped, so I thought I'd ask you guys for some advice!

He's looking for a large, 'prosumer' type compact camera that'll give her the feel of using a 'professional' camera. What I take that to mean is that she's starting into photography and would like to get the feel of handling a DSLR/mirrorless type camera, and that it should have PASM modes. And naturally, it should also have better image quality than her Galaxy Note. Haha. Super zoom isn't a requirement

This would be rather easy, but he has a low budget of around SGD 200. And this is fixed. That's why I was kinda stumped

Any suggestions? Looking for it in a hurry - less than a week till Christmas - and buying used is not really an option coz of the time frame

Thanks guys!

I seriously doubt you can get anything that was a DSLR like bridge camera at SGD200... unless it is a second hand and/or old model. Maybe if your bro could increase the budget for up to 500, we can think of something.

Yeah, I understand. I was actually looking at some older models, maybe 2012 model or something, like a Canon SX160, which is around this price range...but not sure how good it is, and if its better to wait n get something in the $500 range

Actually there is a few cameras that is around 399 SRP (should be cheaper street price.)

1) SX500IS
2) SX510HS
3) SX280

THanks, yeah those are good options if he ups the budget...I'll tel him to take a look.. thanks!
