suction fan in HDB kitchen

This is a projection to the future, if i live alone and printing b&w is feasible and I don't cook...
I know it sounds wierd or passe, but think it may be the best place in Singapore to ask
these questions:

1) Is it troubesome to install suction fan in domestic environment (let's say kitchen?)
2) How much to install a relatively good fan (hardware, servicing, permission?)
3) I would envisage using one window pane of kitchen to be split into two (one for fan, one
for window to swing out). Possible?

Yes, i shoot digital now, but i still have my FM2 and won't mind using Chinese B&W films
for printing in the future, if faith would have it.

if you want to make a HDB kitchen into darkroom,
first you need to make it light-tight,
and a HDB kitchen, you have three side to take care,
door of kitchen, kitchen window, door to toilet (most of the flat design)
if you can take care of these three, install a fan it is not an issue, anyway, you don't need a big suction fan,
and you need to install an air con also, since you have seal the kitchen up.

I don't need to seal the whole kitchen, I can seal up a quarter of the kitchen using curtains,
near the kitchen sink area. I.e. only the one or two windows to be light tight

My dad used to have one installed in the bedroom toilet for use as a darkroom. You will need to build a labyrinth to keep out the light though.. Just need to do some woodwork. ;p

First you've got to buy one first so you know the dimensions. Then cut some plywood to size and build a labyrinth enclosure to keep out the light. If possible, run a simulation for the airflow as well because the one my dad had did a good job in keeping out the light but I think the air flow wasn't efficient enough, but it worked well enough for the bedroom toilet.

You should be able to get a small one at one of those hardware shops, they run on 240v. Alternatively, use a computer power supply to power a couple of those computer chassis fans and mount them to those grey coloured PVC pipe and you should bee able to make a decent labyrinth out of the PVC elbows and joints.
