I want to shoot but I don't have my own studio, we split the costs of the studio rental and we shoot, how?

Seriously, there is a big difference between studio and event shooting???

Why, in the case of the former, shooting FOC is considered to be a mutually beneficial due between the photographer and his models, and in the latter, a case of explotiation?

In my opinion, it is just a simple case of Party A needing practise with his camera and Party B providing Party A this opportunity in exchange for free photography services.

Photography is an art and it is a science. Commercial/Professional photography is very different from photography as a hobby. Having a camera and walking around with it doesn't make you a professional photographer. Neither does basic skills with photoshop cut it.

It is indeed sad for our local industry if ppl share your kind of view that "oh, let me learn some tricks from some experienced photographer and that will be fine". Thats not passion, thats complacency.

We will then only be able to see crap standard because nobody will understand the true art form behind photography, as it is unlikely your "instructor" will cover it during his training for you.

So is the photographer a mechanic or an artist then? I duno...

Hearing what you have mentioned above really bring the warmth out from my heart.
I do know of fashion photographer who have trained/ guided some new photographer and have spent the whole day teaching them who asking for much amount of fee. These are people with a passion in photography and the hear to share what they have learn to the rest .

If ever there is an opportunity. I would really want to learn from you .

Then again back to the topic .
Yes, It true that the model have the best from all/ many photographer and it also very exhuastive for the model as well. It not about the $ that Does the talking. To many of us , I believe. There will be photographers that will be willing to give this a try and at the same time the organiser have to rethink what is he /she asking for without an atitude. It just doesnt bring out the professionalism in you .

haha.... ya. Have found that most clients are kinda cranky.... so gotta be an entertainer sometimes. Hard to find domicile clients these days.

i wonder wat has cs become...no offences here as am a newbie myself..
i thought dat cs is a pro place..but having such comments made me havin 2nd thoughts...ppl offer and enquire wat they want and u can just simply ans and nt backstabbing..? no offence...
not many ppl are as capable and as financially stable out there..

When I shoot for TFCD, my payment are the images.
When I shoot for charity, my payment is the knowledge that I'm helping someone lead a better life.

I pay you with my images I did for you, or you pay me $$$ for the my images I did for you.

or you can pay my by modeling for me
